I'm listening now and it's fooking hilarious... it reminds me of one of Monty Python's "Pepper Pots" (the little old muttering ladies they often played) going wild... really wild. Is there any guitar whatsoever on 'Victrola Time?' -------------------- |

Can't say I've heard any, but at least Pete gets a credit on the sleeve this time. And it's not for Taking Off 'cos Tim gets a credit too as it's a live version from one of the non-Pete shows. -------------------- "Cim keel makilagh teluxa sulomegh yeilck vola-vola coco la fullagh me-nag"

I know, how weird, eh? I know you asked about the guitar the other day, too... I certainly don't hear any. And you can barely hear the keyboard on the 'Taking Off'; it's all guitar... MES really does sound like the demented parrot on Einar's shoulder (rather than the other way round, as depicted in that Gorillaz ad...) -------------------- |

Victrola Time is pretty cool, just listened on YouTube. Is the 7" just two songs? Victrola time and live Taking Off?

If it had a proper b-side I'd probably pony up the skrill for it, but as it is...I don't think so.

What is "pony up the skrill", please?

Semolians, shekels, deniero, fish, bones, fins, readies, bluebacks... moolah, man! Skrill....
And while 'Taking Off' does sound as if it was recorded from beneath Hanley P. Fender's Ginger Frizz Wig, it's a stonking performance... I wish The Fall wouldn't use AUDs on official releases though. G. Showbiz probably has some nice soundboard recordings of recent material somewhere. -------------------- |

There IS guitar on Victrola Time, can you two not hear it? Have you both listened through headphones yet? It's there playing the main riff a few times and then doing that pretty pattern like on the live versions. -------------------- Nobody has the medium.

Thanks BEF, I will do that.
EDIT: Oh yeah, that riff up front with the world's worst fuzz-tone, and the 'weaving' melody near the end with the keyboards. Good ear, BEF. -------------------- |

Not being bothered about vinyl, I just bought the official download and it sounds really good.
It would be better still if it were FLAC or some other lossless files. -------------------- NOT EVERYONE'S CUP OF TEA

Available on iTunes US. No more Youtube nonsense.
I usually balk at live b-sides, but this Tim Taking Off is quite good, actually. Smith in good form, and the knob twiddling works (almost...) seamlessly. My advice?- Digest, Ingest. -------------------- "They will crack under the belief that the truth can be explained to them." Exo. The Vaudeville Cane.
