He laughed harshly as she compared him to Darth Vader. "No, he's a lot more... Callous. Only redeeming himself at the end. Me, as you well know, I'm not always like this babe. I do have a softer side, but you just want to ignore that. You dismiss my concern as trivial... You don't really see how much I care about you, how much I just want to protect you and show you that this world isn't all pain."

Even the beast was trying to be gentle now with her. He moved quicker than any human could, grabbing her wrist lightly, but with a grip she wouldn't be pulling out of if he wasn't going to let her.

"I'm not insane JJ, my little Lady Death. I promise you that much." His voice was softer, calmer, though not in a forced manner that would make her think he was just trying to prove that he was sane. "And I also promise that you'll never be able to keep me away from you. Nothing short of death would keep me from being near you. I want to help you JJ, there are things about me that you don't know and I don't think you would believe or understand. You're far too rooted in reality." He grinned slightly, letting go of her now.

"Go if you want... But I'll never be too far from you... And as cheesy as this sounds, if you ever want to see me, call my name and I'll be next to you. Well... On really cloudy days, and between sunset and sunrise anyway." He smirked as if he were keeping a secret, which of course he was. "So just keep that in mind love."

"Jesus fucking Christ on a unicycle."

Even if he wasn't crazy, he was at the very least obsessive and... Well, 'obsessive' pretty much covered it. "For God's sake, Marcus, what part of leave me the fuck alone don't you understand?" JJ spat as he grabbed her wrist, her frustration boiling up to the point where she wanted to tear at her hair. "How many times do I have to lay this shit out for you? I don't want your goddamn chauvinistic concern for my well-being or your goddamn protection."

Jerking irritably at her hand and feeling her frustration level rise when his grip didn't give, JJ fought the urge to close her eyes and count to ten as one might when dealing with a small, stubborn child... no matter how accurate the analogy happened to be.

"Do you think this is sexy? Does the faulty wiring in there somehow make you think that the more I say 'no' the more I mean 'yes'? Here's a tiny dose of reality, though at this point I doubt you're rational enough to take it--I don't want you near me. I don't want you stalking me, because that's exactly what you're talking about doing." JJ spoke with a forced deliberation, a noticeable slowness to her words--though she doubted slowing down would make her message any clearer.

This was useless. Even knowing it, JJ fought the urge to repeat herself. It just wouldn't do any fucking good. As soon as he let her go, she stepped back, pinching the bridge of her nose as she felt a headache start to gather. "Just stay away... please." Running her hands through her hair, she turned her back and waved down a cab. She didn't much feel like walking back to her apartment.

He chuckled as he watched her wave down a cab and drive off.

Did she really think that he would give up? That he had anything better to do than stalk her? The idea was laughable.

And just to prove it....

He made his way to her apartment, beating her there and slipping in the back window. He found some paper and a pen, leaving a note for her on her kitchen counter where she would be sure to see it.

QUOTE
JJ.

I am sorry for the way I acted, but I can't just let you go. I know it sounds crazy to you, but I'm not like most guys. I'm single minded about what I want and I'm not going to chase after second best. You're what I want... And though I can promise you that you won't see me unless you wan to, I will always be close. I will always be watching you.

He left the note unsigned as she would know who it was coming from.

Leaving the apartment quickly, he heard footsteps outside and grinned. Gone before she entered, he made his perch on the top of the building, chuckling silently to himself.
