Hope it's a good night.

Would really appreciate if someone could tell me what time door tickets were still available up to - need to know what time I have to get there tomorrow.

Enjoy!

Fallnet/Forum crossposting, apologies for laziness.

Met some nice people from Fallnet and the Forum. Gig itself was good without being stunning. Good version of I've been Duped was followed by a fine rendition of Psykick Dancehall.

I guess about half the set was new. One new song bored me a bit. No Blindness. MES ushered needless security offstage early on to cheers. And other such stuff.

Proper review will follow, recording on Dime, maybe rapidshare if I can be bothered.

Enjoyed thoroughly.
Very crisp altogether, and the piano player's vocals were more tuneful and confident than I'd heard before.
Looking forward to tomorrow.
Another pointless post.

I'd say it was a 'moneys worth' performance... Although, I'm hoping for better tomorrow night.

I'm Not From Bury sounded great, though...

Really enjoyed the gig, looking forward to tonight... if I can shake off my hangover in time...

I've stuck it on DIME: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=276318

My own fuller ramblings...

There was a good representation from the Forum and Fallnet. Good to meet up with people again - Jack, Alan, Phil, Phil's pal John? (a live fall Virgin), Steve Hamilton, Dusty, Vinny, Brian (djbawbag) and Adam (spazzy bystander).

Setlist
--------

1. ? (6.48)
2. My Door (4.19)
3. Cowboy George (7.27)
4. Chino Splashback (4.08)
5. Hot Cake (2.48)
6. I've Been Duped (4.43)
7. Psykick Dancehall (3.59)
8. I'm (Not) From Bury (5.32)
9. Sloppy Floor (5.42)
----------
10. White Lightning (2.38)
11. Over! Over! (3.26)
12. Reformation (6.41)

Total (58.11)

I've stayed away from recent recordings as it's rare to see The Fall without knowing most of the set. Hence the missing title in the setlist. Hopefully I got the other titles correct. Corrections and amendments gratefully received!

The Ferry is a strange venue and always packed for the Fall. I can't decide if I like it or not. I wasn't there early enough to bag a decent viewpoint so sacrificed that (and not for the first time) for a decent recording position. Hope it was worth it!

Main highlights of the night

- approximately 50% of the set is new material.
- ridiculous security presence at the side of the stage ushered away by MES.
- mustachioed security man not happy at all, well done to whoever in the crowd wound him up!
- Eleni's role in the group gets stronger as time goes on.
- I've Been Duped (see above). Just love the Kraftwerkesque "my TV always in front of me" bit, which is now followed by a great big guitar fill.
_ the intro to the Bury song. Listen and see if you can work out why I've bracketed it.
- Psykick Dancehall.
- the classic statement "not White Lightning" just before said song was played, by a person who'll remain nameless. hehehe. Could've been worse, could've been Mr Pharmacist!

It really is a terrific sounding recording. Thoroughly brightened up an otherwise wet and dreary bike ride to work this morning. New Instrumental sounds particularly good, and a nice sparse White Lightning.

After White Lightning, somebody next to the bootlegger, or maybe even the bootlegger himself, says something along the lines of, "Level 42. That's all I'm saying..." confused.gif
