Far better gig than last night. MES was on top form and a more polished performance from Blaney too. Sticks as brilliant as yesterday. Great to meet Kurt and a thoroughly enjoyable night in a top venue. Many thanks to Toby- great job!

Everyone's said The Sticks were great. I'll definitely check them out.
Sounds like two great, memorable nights from the majority of reviews.
And possibly a one-off if MES and Blaney decide not to do a follow-up. sad.gif

Thanks for the reviews from both nights, everyone and congratulations to Toby. beer.gif

The improv stuff MES did when Ed walked off stage and he didn't know if he was coming back was pure genius.
And then when Ed did come back... wow!
A wonderful night - I've never seen Mark look so happy, which made me very happy.
Rocking!

Yes.
He is one of the "blokes".
He waltzed with me at the end.
He also grabbed one of the setlists and sold it.
Top chap.

No one has mentioned the most sublime part of the gig, which was when MES went and crouched on the back of the stage steps, behind the curtain, and carried on declaiming, reading his lyrics off some A4, so all we could see was his socks and shoes.
Lovely.

Some of this is already up on YouTube - more to follow, I'd wager.
Who was doing the more professional filming on the Friday?

That was the best bit!!
Though, oddly, if you showed that to a friend and said; "This is why I love MES!", they may think you are bonkers.

Two legendary nights...thanks Toby for making this happen and the venue (I'll be back there soon, what a gem!). Agree that second night both MES and Blaney were bang on it. 10/10 even by Fall standards.

Spotted Mrs Smith on her own near the back, she appeared to love the Sticks...if anyone reading this hasn't see them, do check these Monk-esque guys out around Brighton. Two guitars, drums...rotate instruments after each song. Hypnotic brilliance.

Skinner's big heeed was transfixed as usual near the front.

Apologies to the grey haired chap at the front who I had pop at when leaving...no offence, mate, but berating the crowd after first night for not acting like crowd?? Hilarious! All part of the fun though. But, yeah, the atmosphere WAS better on the 14th.

Anyone know what the lad with the little camcorder was doing.... the vox pop thing at the end?

Think I went; "Mark E Smith...Briliant... Best thing ever.. Mark... Yes... Brilliant... Ed... Yeah!!"

Ah yes, "xylopophone", I'd skimmed it as xylophone.

So yes, MES' completely unexpected penchant for both the xylophone and the Stylophone. Proper community centre instruments them!
