Is there a God?

During the Von Sud days I saw a myspace profile, presumably done by MES or under his instructions. Under the 'religion' category he put 'atheist'.

Can't find it now though.

Are you a satanist and a fascist?

"Yes I am."

Burning Catholics in the backyard?

"I wouldn't say so, no. I'd have to burn out my band for a start." NME, 1988.

Hm, so not completely taboo.
Someone here said they had had a question accepted, what was that?

Anyone going to this, then? I wasnae gonna bother, but as it happens I'm in the area. Mentioned it to my partner & she took it on herself to get tickets, bless 'er. The way I see it, there's enough good beer to be had in Hudders to make it worth the trip anyway.

This thread asks if you had a question for MES accepted. However I have no idea what for, some kind of on stage Q&A?

Anyone got a link to help fill in the blanks please? smile.gif

Cheers boss. smile.gif

Huddersfield? Oh fuck... Would have liked to have gone. Is it getting filmed/taped?
I stopped collecting Fall bootlegs a good while back - Too many left unplayed - But I'd be interested in this big time.

One of my fave ever MES articals was in Q, Cash For Questions Wonderful it was.
In fact it was on the back of this that I made an effort to get into the band. Seriously, I thougt it was great.

I think I heard the A Past Gone Mad set not long after and then bought This Nations Saving Grace. I can't quite remember.
Anyways, all that (mainly) down to the fact I thought he was a stand-up bloke.

I'm planning on attending the proceedings Conk. Will be in the head of steam (railway station) for a pre-event pie. Thanks for sorting out my bro-in-law for that ticket last year btw.

Twas my pleasure. Will probly pass through the Head of Steam at some point as we'll be arriving by train, haven't decided what time we'll be there yet - it's only an hour away from us & a pub crawl in Hudders is always an attractive proposition. Weather looks good too.

Departing for Hudders now. If anyone else is there, I'll be the shortish, fiftyish bald bloke in the corny black leather jacket & IWS t-shirt. No stereotypes there then...

It's just occured to me that if MES had not been doing this Q&A thing in Huddersfield tonight, then the Fall might just have BEEN ON THE FUCKING TELLY TONIGHT!! angry.gif

Well, was it good? I loved it.
He was particularly great with the young folks, dispatching the rapscallions in the audience with good grace and charming with a young chap at the book-signing.
btw have to say your God-question was better than my God-question Mr, think the chap could've let you ask it but he was under pressure i guess! It was enlightening though. At 4am I had a flash of inspiration about the whole thing, something about inferno, purgatorio, etc. .... then I fell asleep again.

What did anyone else think?

Thoroughly enjoyed it meself, particularly the blunt admission to believing in god & the obvious discomfort at becoming a national treasure. Thought the interviewer was a bit over-earnest, but then MES-wrangling is never an easy thing.

Finished in time for us to get a pint & last train home too, so top night all round.

I thought it was a very entertaining evening. Michael (?) the interviewer did a good job. It can't be easy taking on the task of interviewing MES before an audience. It's ended badly for so many others.

MES seemed to have plenty of goodwill towards the whole enterprise.

Seemed to me like Mark felt uncomfortable through much of the appearance. He seemed quite vulnerable.

And I presume he didn't appear for the book signing as I spotted Michael taking a pile of books away, presumably to be signed from the dressing room.

My favourite bit was probably the discussion of What About Us. "Did you really think it was about a rabbit?!"

Shame they couldn't have stretched the budget to pay for lapel microphones!

He did come out to sign books in fact, really splendid. The rabbit! Oh I cried!

I WISH it had been about a rabbit . The song is only about 20% of what it was when I thought it was the adventures of an itinerant rabbit who could/ couldn't get his drugs . The Shipman 'angle' brought it down considerably , for me, -- made it 'earthbound' . ( I thought they were singing "... S**t-head " .) applaud.gif

I got my book signed, and I managed a few pictures as he was signing for others. If any of these feature your rear end, or other assorted body parts, feel free to ask and I'll email you a copy of the original file.

Good photos, Richard1961!

Damn! I bet he was doing this while we were sat outside with our beers!

I've got some photos too. How do I get them on here?

Agree interviewer coped pretty well and What About Us thread was hilarious. Not always coherent, but always entertaining.

Could have done without that loud mouthed twat gobbing off from the sidelines though, cock.

As we waited at the book stall, Michael (the interviewer) came out and asked how many were wanting signatures. This was about ten minutes or so after the talk had ended. Apparently Mark had asked that we all go down to The Green Room and meet him there, but Michael decided there were too many of us so he went and brought Mark up to the table instead.

Upload the pictures to somewhere like Photobucket, and you'll be given a link to the image, which you can then paste into a message. Look above the box that you type in to post, and you'll see a button marked IMG. Click on that, and the link goes in there. Hope that makes sense.
