First...again! biggrin.gif

Mind-altering, life-changing experience.
Another stunning performance by the mighty Fall gruppe.
Encores of CBM and Blindness worth the price of admission alone.
Eleni wearing a strangely patterned retro-dress (and a scarf for the second half of the show). More amp-twiddling than yesterday, used to great effect. Wings again...and TS and LKK, IBD, FS (off the top of my head).
Wunderbar! Great meetig billybigbananas, cupidsbullet, johnnymills and Mr Wise! Toby was sadly missed. No JTR today. Might indeed have been a Falloween gimmick as surmised earlier. Wasn't necessary though to make this one of the best Fall shows ever. Tears welling in my eyes. Must be pished. Hove is upon us.

From the rain-swept streets of London, I'm the unseen.

This is mainly for completists only. Sound quality is beyond description. Pitch issues from beginning to end make this unlistenable.

Initial set from a 'well oiled' Johnnymills who looks like he may well be camping out at Gatwick tonight.

Hot Cake (?)
My Door
Wings
50 Year Old man
Can Can
Wolf Kidult Man
Duped
Latch Key Kid
FallSound
T T T Tommy Shooter
Carry Bag Man
Blindness

Happy to be corrected when sober people wake.

The Consotrium have the actual set list in hand.

Cheers Johnny.

Even better than the first night, squelchy feet notwithtanding, ..., slightly better sound all round which Bobby Peru took full advantage of inc a fun 'Whip it' Devo cover, which suits their style, sort of.

Then some Safi, which was ok

The crowd was noticeably younger than on the Friday & there were more ppl down the front than the night before but they didnt 'bop' as much.
It seemed, judging by the post mortems held on various stairways & bus stops, that those of us on the first balcony enjoyed it more than those on the ground floor, presumably a sound thing

Knob twiddling was again effective & standouts for me were Fall Sound, Wolf, Duped & Blindness
The Wings was also 'punchier' than other recent versions I've seen/heard. I also liked the Carry Bag Man which has a much different feel now than the 'original'
The guest vocals on Tommy werent as good as the night before but there was some Smith/guest vocal interplay that could end up being effective, possibly

The Empire staff deserve a mention for their friendliness etc, tho the bar upstairs was understaffed

Lastly a big shout out to Harvey, (aged 6), ..., it was only his second gig & he feels the Fall are better than the Buzzcocks, ..., good man etc & one very lucky so-&-so to have such opportunities

Really enjoyable gig for me. Nice to have a seat and not have to sit in it. Plenty of space to move about. Empire staff were quite relaxed about people standing at the front and in the aisles. Being a theatre it had good sightlines. I like this kind of atmosphere - of course its not loud, sweaty and personal enough for some tastes.

Anyone know what happened to "Special guest: James Blood Ulmer"

If I had to name the greatest Fall gig in all my 28 years of following the Gruppe, then this was it. It was simply mind-blowingly brilliant - this performance even surpassed the brilliance of the first night. As pointed out previously, MES's sonic interventions were used to great effect especially during Fall Sound and Carrybag. The clarity of the sound from the first tier was breathtaking. Moreover, the atmosphere of the venue more generally was one of friendliness which added to the overall experience. So the Mighty Fall back on form playing in a perfect venue. They ought to play seated venues more often - it suits them.

Hello again, Hairymarx

Glad to hear you enjoyed last night.

Anyway, were there many 'middle class wankers' at the gig?

[I hate them as well, by the way - but probably for different reasons]

Yes, I was at the back enjoying some bruschetta and an organic seeweed smoothie whilst talking about the price of my house....
