I'm afraid I have some very sad news about our good friend David Luff, known on this forum as Cog Sinister. He died yesterday. I have just been speaking to a friend in Dusseldorf and have asked him to pass on our condolences to David's family and to wish them well in this difficult time.

David's partner is aware of the vII book orders through the website and she will have to try to sort out where everything is with that, but obviously has more pressing things to deal with at the moment. So can I please ask everyone to be patient and in a couple of weeks time, we'll see if we can help her sort out what orders are still outstanding. If anyone has any questions, please email me - conwaypaton@gmail.com - please don't use Cog's PM or email address in the meantime. Thanks everyone.

Very sad news.

My deepest and sincerest condolences go out to all his family and friends at this incredibly sad time.

He was a very decent, sincere and industrious fellow.

Rest in peace, David.

This is indeed horrible news.

I was emailing with him last week too - he was making sure that the Japanese address I gave him was right (it wasn't). Thanks to his checking the book made it's way here safely.

My condolences to the Luff's....

That's awful awful news Conway...what happened?

I presume it was a heart attack. He had been hospitalised a couple of times during the past 12 months with heart problems.

Horribly sad, shocking news.
I don't really know what else to say.

I'll always be grateful for the books he published and the considerable part he played in The Fall's history.
He went out of his way to send me some vinyl last year and again with the recent book too.

Deepest condolences to his family and friends.

How dreadful. David did me a kindness recently so I know he was one of the good guys. My thoughts are with his family.

The new book is a worthy tribute to remember him by.

I spoke to him via email recently. Can't believe it.

MES will be devistated. They were clearly very close friends.

Very sad news.

That's awful news.

After Daves first post on this forum I started to give him some (playful) stick, and for my cheek (his words) he sent me a MES scrawled 80's setlist, a lyric book, the original tape cassette of Mark reading the first new years honours list and a hard-to-get long sleeved Cog Sinister t-shirt, all of which I adore.

All of this sent first class from Germany to sunny Salford just because I engaged him in some banter. What a bloke.

I'm gutted for his friends and family.
