Well, what a difference a day makes. Last night's magic was gone and The Fall were rather pedestrian. The Ferry was quiet (only a few hundred I'd say) and MES, although not apparently drunk, spent most of the time struggling with mike wires and stands, and amp twiddling. There was no Ding (although there was a guitar on stage for him!), however, we did get Totally Wired as an encore!! When did that last get an airing?

We had a mixture of views in our camp tonight - one "last night was better", one "underwhelmed", one "tonight was better" and one "enjoyed tonight but didn't go last night". All of us were quite impressed with Totally Wired.

I was the "tonight was better". Maybe because I could see more tonight, maybe because I was being a good boy and not drinking on a school night. Certainly things felt different tonight than last night. There was more emphasis on the rumbling songs and less on the new. MES also seemed to spend his time slowly turning everything up to eleven and wallowing in the cacophony that ensued.

The battle between MES, mics and the tatooed bouncers/stage crew continued. Some day they might learn just to leave him to get tangled.

Certainly the band sounded tight and confident, going hell for leather. Which is a good sign because the bands of the early 00s seemed to need a couple of years bedding in before they progressed past being a standard pub rock/rockabilly backing band.

Tpby Dynamik also thought tonight was better - I'm of the other view, last night's was a stormer and tonight more pedestrian. I thought there were big chunks of the gig where you couldn't hear the guitar, just the bass, which didn't work so well for me. To be honest, I didn't think they hit their stride until Blindness, right before the encore.

Totally Wired was an unexpected pleasure, though, and had me grinning ear to ear.

I seem to remember Totally Wired at the Glasgow date on the Levitate tour. Or was that a dream?

That Garage gig was the "Good evening we are Rage" evening I think. The Garage had/has a big sign behind the stage which was partially obscured by the Fall's stage dressing and I remember a chuckling Mark saying this. Bet I invented this memory.

I enjoyed it because it really felt like the end of the tour, MES was being particularly mischevious/annoying, everything seemed louder than the night before and the setlist was longer than usual. The band seemed to be kicking back and just let him get on with it.

Did anyone notice if he actually made contact with Eleni's amp during I've Been Duped? Looked like he swung a punch at it - good naturedly though so no rumours - and Eleni burst out laughing.

Didn't notice that. But did you see him hit his mike off the wall a few times and then say something into it to check he'd not bust it? laugh.gif

Particularly amusing when he gesticulated to the drummer showing his approval of him playing really hard then proceeded to reach over and wrench one of his cymbals out of the kit and chuck it down the side of the stage. He seemed to be having a good laugh a lot of the time at the band and the old security guard expense as he mangled 3 mikestands on a rotational basis.

He must be going a bit soft giving us Totally Wired, even commenting it was a special request as it was the last night of the tour. They must have planned it though as the band seemed to know it and had rehearsed it thankfully.

Pretty good gig all in , wasn't there Saturday night though so don't have that to compare it to.

two great gigs this weekend. MES clearly enjoying himself....as are the band who have the tightest (loudest?) rhythm section for years...but they all play well as a whole. One wave of MES throat cut move halts the songs...does this mean 'stop playing' ..or 'stop playing........or ill kill you'?...either way it works immediately. Brilliant.

Hope they dont book another US tour...thats all we'd need.... biggrin.gif The bootleg of saturday night is great by the way.

Oh aye and wee note if alan wise or whoever books the shows reads these...OTHER VENUES ARE AVAILABLE...the ferry is shite...full of octogenarian ex prison officer bouncers whod break yer legs for spilling a pint. Please can the fall play somewhere better.

DIME appears to be down for db maintenance just now (just after 11pm). If I can't up this tonight it'll be tomorrow after work.

Not much to add to what's been said already - two excellent gigs - but I asked someone who's in a position to know, Who's that guy who does the intro and comes back on for Tommy Shooter? "He's part of the admin team". So that clears that up then!

This was the first time I have seen The Fall live, I was pretty impressed as I didn't know what to expect after what I have read and heard about thier live shows over the years...

As it was my first chance to see them I was dissapointed to only get the one oldie at the end, but Totally Wired was fucking perfect....

Where is the link to the bootleg?

There is no link to the bootleg (one of many I'm sure) yet. It'll be on Dimeadozen tonight and I'll post the link here when done. Hope you've got a Dime account though...

You don't need an invite, you do need to register. And have broadband.

The site is www.dimeadozen.org

Membership is capped at 100,000 and always runs at capacity. However they dump inactive accounts daily so you just need to keep trying until you get in. Midnight is allegedly a good time to try as that apparently coincides with their housekeeping, although I don't know if that's GMT or not.

Good luck getting in, there are currently loads of the recent Fall shows on the go!

Saturday was so great I almost don't care that I missed Totally Wired... almost.

What would the best venues for The Fall in Glasgow be? I sort of like The Ferry. But ABC2 could be good? Two nights in the new Stereo mibbe?
