Absolute corker tonight. Set had no surprises, and was roughly -

Is This New
Wings
Wolf
50 Year Old
Fall Sound
Duped
Mountain Energei
Pacifying Joint
Reformation
Tommy Shooter

White Lightning
Latch Key
Blindness

Pharmacist

Have to say I haven't seen MES so focused in years. And he was, dare I say it, having fun!! There were smiles, a laugh at one point, engaging with us crowd. I think he was sober!! Seriously. It was a bit odd, because part of the appeal of seeing The Fall is that it tends not to be fun. It's usually a bit tense because you can't be sure whether MES is going to take the knob-twiddling a bit too far, or whether he's just going to walk off mid-song.

I've also not seen the crowd so up for it. After Blindness (during which the two mike stands made their way into the crowd) nobody left and up rose a chant of "one more song" and they came back for Phramacist. MES was positively beaming!! He seemed to wallow in the adoration, and at one point, and I kid you not, stood Jesus-like, arms outstreched with his back to us.

The band were on top form. No Ding on bass though - maybe tomorrow. Highlights were the reworking of Mountain Energei and a suitably intense Blindness.

Twas excellent tonight and I can't disgaree on that . I just don't get the whole appeal of the fall is that it might be bad thing. Glasgow gets off very lightly in terms of bad Fall gigs so it's always going to be good here.

But sorry, if you're going along expecting or prepared to accept a bad event to any Fall gig and that's appealing to you then to me that's quite sad. But that's just my opinion so lets not argue.

The missing Ding was a shame, was really hoping for this, particularly as we'd walked past him coming in.

Roll on tomorrow!!!

What I meant was that tension on stage can result in fantastic Fall gigs. For me, tension is commensurate with the music. Don't get me wrong, I loved the gig, I was just a but surprised at MES's cameraderie.

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif applaud.gif A brilliant gig, I thought.....one of the best in nearly 20 years for me. I don't think I've ever seen MES as engaged with the audience, knob fiddling was mostly an enhancement, band was pretty tight, Smith's keyboard solo in Blindness was brill, and the second encore was a delightful extra and I'll even forgive them a rendering of Mr Pharmacist! Well worth the 300 mile round trip and my mate Jim, a Fall virgin, was well pleased. I have a clip of 'Is This New' which I hope to post on YouTube later.

Thought the version of Pharmacist was possibly the best I've seen them do - Eleni had a real impact on it. Blindness and 50 Year Old Man were the other standouts for me.

Fantastic gig, and cracking night all in.

Ah, that makes sense. Apologies, you're quite right. From what little I could see - grrr, hate the Ferry when it's busy - he was on top form.

I'm currently sorting my tape and hope to have it up on Dime later today. Tracklist is as Flipper said, with some minor running order changes.

1. Is this new?
2. Wings
3. Wolf Kidult Man
4. 50 Year Old Man
5. I've Been Duped
6. Fall Sound
7. Pacifying Joint
8. Mountain Energei
9. Reformation
10. Tommy Shooter

11. White Lightning
12. Latch Key Kid
13. Blindness

14. Mr Pharmacist

Quality is on a par with my other recordings from the Ferry. I missed the spoken intro whilst manouvering into place and must apologise for going to the bar in the middle of Mountain, there's a wee dip in volume and a numpty (i.e. me) ordering a pint of Stella and counting money. As I've said I hate the Ferry when it's busy, it's just not laid out for bigger gigs. I stayed upstairs and couldn't see much but hopefully caught a decent recording.

They came on just after ten I think. Doors are an hour earlier tonight, 7PM according to the ticket. Dunno if that will make a difference to stage times. Probably safest to make sure you get there just before 9.

Well, if one is going to order such a classy drink on tape, in the middle of a Fall gig and then share it with the world, one should do it in the middle of the song which can handle the collateral damage!

Better than those recordings where you can hear the taper going into the gents and taking a slash midway through the set....

Thanks for the YouTube clip. It sounds amazing. If anyone could post the whole gig at Rapidshare or etc., I would (and I think also others who, like me, are too clown like to ever understand how the Dime thing works) appreciate it very much. Gracias in advance.

Your return elegantly coinciding with " (AND-UH) Water's coming down the mountain".
Perfect. Stella coming down the mountain.

You're probably saying to yourselves: "Isn't he THE UNSEEN? Can't he break himself out of this?" Yes, I can. Swell. But that won't get me what I need to know.

The Consortium just piss all over the floor. They're specially trained not to leave their posts.

At a Cockney Rejects gig last year in Brighton, I pissed in a plastic pint glass. I actually pissed more than a pint and the overflow went over my jeans. I never knew I could actually produce a whole pint +

I then placed the glass on the ground, only to ceremoniously boot it over after the end of the show. At £4 a pint, I was tempted to take it home.

It gave me an enormous sense of well being, and my Rejects mate got a nice recording.

Saturday night was a real highlight for me (especially after the Rangers v Celtic game earlier biggrin.gif )

Haven't had so much fun in years. Caught the last 3 numbers from Bobbie Peru - is Whip It an old Devo cover version?? Thereafter, the usual Safi shite was getting me suitably wound up grrr.gif

The Fall played a blinder and Mark seemed to genuinely have a good time. I can only remember minimal knob twiddling and the 2nd encore was an unexpected bonus applaud.gif

High spots for me were Pacifying Joint and Blindness.
