just got back in
it was a very slow starter of a gig
intro was kind of prog rock but ok
then wings was ok (better than cricklewood)
then the fall just didn t seem to happen
until ding came on for reformation which was phenomenally good

then it was fall back in business

not sure about new stuff
ive been duped is alright
but other stuff is a bit non descript

I'll still keep on going of course but i wished that they'd done the first half in the dressing room and started with reformation

it was my 30th fall gig

mark is looking ill and old

frank skinner was in tonight

A very good gig.

Didn’t mind Bobbie Peru. They reminded me a lot of a sort of generic early eighties alternative rock sound, but better than most bands I saw at that time. Safi was on for about fifteen minutes. Just enough time for the cat calls to start, but not long enough for it to become an overwhelming chorus.

New stuff is excellent, looking forward to the album a great deal now. Keiron’s work rate was phenomenal. I’ve not noticed this on the couple of times I’ve seen him previously. Several songs (Fall Sound, I’ve Been Duped) started a bit tentatively, but improved as they went on. Where I was standing, you couldn’t hear Elena’s voice on I’ve Been Duped until about two thirds of the way through the song. It was like the sound man had forgotten where the volume knob was. Pete is getting better all the time and was particularly good on Reformation, where he did some quite strange guitar work. I’m one of Dave’s fans and believe that his style has added a new element to the Fall that has made them even better. That said, when Ding came on, the extra (and different sounding) bass just made things better still.

I guess that they hit some sort of curfew, as the only song in the encore was White Lightning – great though it was.

A big hello to Toby, Freeranger and Callsign 5XX. Good to see you.

I thought it was a storming gig. A huge improvement on what I thought was a shambles at the Astoria last week.

Backing tape for Pander Panda played in the background for 75% of the gig, wasn't sure if it was an oversight or planned until MES asked the sound desk to turn off the fooking backing tape !

Nice little venue as well, thought the sound was exceleent from where I was standing.... If anyone has a tape would be grateful of megaupload etc.. can't use torrents...

I was a really great gig. I think Mark performed much better than he did on the last tour and looked better too. New material sounded fantastic, I wish they had played 'Blindness' though as it is a classic. All the band were A1 and I got the feeling they enjoyed it. Yes Reformation was terrific. It is a really good venue. You get the feeling you are in a cellar and the noise just bounces!

This "Is This New" I love it.
The pauses , an ideal intro , different but very good and tight.

I bet that sounded great.

Some mistakes aren't meant to be noticed until it is almost too late... Wish I knew whether I was talking out of my ass or not.

I have the set list from this gig which I can upload soon smile.gif

It was my first fall gig and I fucking loved it. I'm only 16 so I stood out like a sore thumb and I was also alone because none of my bloody friends hardly know them other than Touch Sensitive (because of a certain car advert... dry.gif)

Duped sounded brilliant and Reformation just blew me away. Although deeply annoying to have not seen Blindness live, White Lightning was just as explosive. The band really were as tight as they could possibly have been, drummers big crash symbol and mic fell on him when MES knocked into them which I guess is the norm at a Fall gig... Crowd was a bit limp except for a few at the front who really enjoyed themselves. Got a really cool Imperial Wax Solvent T-shirt as well as a Dragnet badge biggrin.gif

Excuse my ignorance, but who was the bloke that came on and did the introduction, then 'sang' one of the songs?
