Yes congratulations to The Fall – a fine album and some blinding gigs in the last 12 months. But having a dig at the old group is unnecessary. They did some great stuff too.

As much as I like the current Fall line-up much more than the previous line-up, is it really necessary to keep having a go at ‘the ones who ran away’…?

Mind you, I bet if you’d asked Rob, Tim and Orpheo a year ago if they thought they’d still be in the Fall a year later (or if you’d asked MES for that matter), I don’t suppose they’d have thought it remotely likely…

I think it's quite sweet, they are all still obviously in his mind.

Nice to see the official board being used for its purpose.

Jury out

They have the RNFLP to better before accolades get issued.

Give the last lot the credit they deserved.

Reformation is an embrionic glimpse at current line up.

The next album is the key one, most of RPTLC was written before the Americans joined. This line up is better live than the last one.

I ain't knocking them , no way.
Not my group so it doesn't matter.
I loved that group though.
They went , they were The Fall then and I'm still listening in awe.
People move , the new group are doing it. , no need to remember/celebrate their "running away" , like I say , nothing to do with me , I just buy the records , if they're any good smile.gif

Agreed. It's a nice little message. Nothing wrong with any of the sentiments expressed. smile.gif

Thanks.

MES doesn't "run away" from having his current band play the songs the last lot wrote in the gruppe's live sets, eh, readers?

Despite the fair results he's reaped with the new musicians, its still strikes me as sad that mes couldn't work through the supposed creative block with the group.

All done and dusted of course, but it's true, we shouldn't forget.

The only sad thing was that MES was saddled with musicians who weren't particularly creative and who weren't able to come up with the goods as needed. Nothing MES could have done to "work through it." Had plenty of patience--waited 2 years for them to cobble together FHR. And probably would have continued to try and coax it out of them, except they left. Some seem to not like the use of the phrase "ran away" but, uh, that's what they did isn't it?

Totally agree: a fresh new beginning in America but something was lost also. This shouldn't be harked on about one year later - a lifetime in music biz terms.
I like to think that the gruppe is saying that they know we know it was really hairy there for a minute and not quite the smooth transition it was made out to be.
Yes it is worth celebrating.

yup - looking forward to the next batch of half-arsed garage punk riffs with MES becoming even more of a parody of himself.

That must be a wind up, but if it is MES, he's really lost the plot wacko.gif

I'm not so sure. Who knows what really went on?

As for coming up with the goods, I still believe that the Fall Heads Roll Lp and gigs of the time sound pretty much just as MES wished them to sound, and this was something he was quietly confident about.

It is an old matter though, perhaps something that should be left to lie.

I think this is unnecessary and shows a lack of class that even Arsene Wenger wouldn't stoop to.

Maybe I'll call up my ex-wife and taunt her for not having a boyfriend... finger.gif

Bullshit. You're really not seeing it from Mark's perspective...Eight years after the entire New York debacle, an entire band quits on him again, he gets written off by every independent music paper on both sides of the Atlantic AGAIN within a day and immediately bounces back.

Fuck, I'd be gloating too.
