Always good to be first to post.

Good gig, but by the standards of this tour not exceptional.
No great surprises, apart for a very long wait until the final encore.

Good meet up, will post more tomorrow.

Another great night- good to see you again Altfish, the Rose & Crown was a fine pub with a few decent beers on. We got into the venue before 10, no safi again thank god but we had to wait till 10.25 for The Fall. Great venue, sound was excellent and we got new song (stock replacer thingy)/Pacifying Joint/Over/Fall Sound/Sparta/Hungry Freaks/WPRT then they walk off after 30 mins! Back again for Wright Stuff, White Lightning,Systematic and Blindness. I’m pretty sure they did My Door too. Then off again Reformation was played through the PA and the band come on again after a 9 minute break to play Reformation. Mrs Smith has her coat on and after MES disappears, a roadie beckons her off, and the band follow. Not quite as good as Leeds, but MES was on form and the only minor moans were the long wait for the gig to start and the pointless walk off afer 30 mins. Other than that, excellent and Blackburn is a distant memory- even WPRT was OK. Good to see you too Telephone Things, hope you got back OK and maybe see you in Manchester later in the year.

Brilliant, but not quite as epic as Leeds. Wish M.E.S. would stop bothering Barbato though - wonder what he's done to deserve that?

Hmm, so what happened....

Great pub - with two names, The Nook ... and The Rose and Crown. Plenty in there, Exiled Manc, Claudia, New Profile Razor Unit, Tobydynamik come to mind, there were more. Lots of Fall fans who I didn't know.
Telephone Thing(s) were next to me in the gig

Venue was good, strange, but good, pity they couldn't take the seats at the back out. I was on the balcony..as the band came on, I stood up, the bloke next to me asked me to sit down. I politely explained to him that it was a rock concert, not a poetry recital.

No set surprises, list posted earlier was about right. The versions of the RPTLC tracks really put to shame the album versions.

Bouncers seemed to get a bit heavy handed towards the end, I saw them forcefully evict a couple, don't know what they had done.

Mind, some idiot at the end of the gig, started to piss off the balcony - now he did want forcefully handling by the bouncers.

I took the chance and drove up to Holmfirth, £15 ensured entrance and a PAID stamp on the back of my hand in lieux of ticket.

The support band were very listenable DILE I think they were called; there was a real muppet dancing fan of theirs who was eyeballed by security and finally ejected towards the end of the Fall set. They always get their man.

No Safi - perhaps he's been sniped.

Mr and Mrs MES arrived first at the venue via the stage and then up some wobbly stairs to the dressing room. I held my breath thinking another tumble may do for the fella but thankfully nothing bone breaking witnessed, the band arrived 10 minutes later and took to the stage about 10.25 or so.

Stonking set I must say; off they went after 30 minutes or so and to be honest I would'nt have complained had that been that. 2 more returns and offski.

Reformation and Systematic Abuse could be adopted by the military/police as crowd control weapons. The Band seemed to have a good night, plenty of amp and no Rob fiddling by MES observed.

In the dim light of the Picturedrome all Rob needs is a top hat and he could be Abe Lincoln.

Chip Shops missed a trick by not being open at the end mind.

Mr Boo

Safi said in Edinburgh he had some prior engagement in Berlin this week. I think he'll be back later in the tour, maybe next week. applaud.gif

I am starting to like his shows. unsure.gif

When he first started he was poor, IMHO. But he seems to be improvising more and generally putting on a more entertaining show. Well done Safi; a credible 6/10 compared to previous 2/10

Thought last night was fantastic.D.I.L.E.were an exellent support they sounded and looked great' well done Dennis and gang.

thought The Fall we utterley brilliant Mark is timeless the group were on throbbing form, thought the venue was great it was like stepping back in time and rather spookey our photos are full of strange images floating round (not sure how to post them yet) Stood with Altfish and his bro managed to speak to Exiled Manc on the way out.

Thought Blindness and Reformation were incredible did not want the gig to end wish we could get to them all.

Then the spooky drive home over Black Hill what a great night, look forward to seeing everyone at Jilly's.

It seems there is a little confusion here. Judging by the position your photos are taken from, the person you refer as "taking a piss off the balcony" is none other than myself. Now I do not deny that i am a pissed up idiot, in fact, pissed up wanker would be more appropriate, but i do feel your description is a little strong. I was not pissing on the heads of fall fans below as it appears from your statement, in actual fact i pissed in a pint pot and placed it carefully on the ground, where it would not be able to be knocked over, as as you correctly state, it was near the end of the show, and as i was enjoying it so much i didnt want to miss out by queing up for ten minutes at one of the 2 urinals on offer. I apologise if my behaviour offends anybody..... but i'm afraid the only offence that could possibly have been caused is that somebody might have gotten a glimpse of my ugly little pecker. I'm not normally arsed about such things, but as I plan to see more Fall shows in the future, I wouldn't want to be known as the guy who pisses on Fall fans heads. Hope this clears things up.

Great gig, though I've seen them better. MES didn't look that happy really I thought. But when they were good they were way beyond great last night e.g. Systematic Abuse, Blindness and Fall Sound showing exactly why they are such a great live band. I thought the long waits between encores was very Fallish!

Venue is obviously falling to bits, Eleni clearly didn't trust the security or the dressing room in the loft and brought her coat and her bags to the stage.

Missed the golden showers, or should I say the golden showers missed me!

I recorded the Cockney Rejects in Brighton last month. Not really my cup of tea, but I promised a couple of mates that I would sort them out with a CD. I was a bit nervous in the company of some ‘old skool’ ICF thugs, so drank lots of Stella to make myself look hard. After about 40 minutes, my bladder was fit to burst, and my eyes were starting to water with pain. I knew there was half an hour to go, so I was in trouble. I’d promised my mates the gig, so there was only one thing for it. A plastic pint glass was skilfully placed down by my nether regions, and percy was let free in the darkened auditorium. Problem was, there was a big split in aforementioned plastic pint glass. I’ll let you work it out.

I went home with a nice recording, and wet jeans.

You can’t let your mates down.

A little late but as I'm in an Internet cafe, I might as well have my money's worth. It's the Picturedrome, not Hippodrome, by the by.

I think this was on a par with Leeds the night before 'Senior Twilight..' is great, the group seemed a little less comfortable with the proceedings...might just be me. Large sections of the crowd 'don't get out much' in my opinion, some very pissed folk acting very daft - which wasn't too smart considering the security were, as has been pointed out, very heavy handed. The Irish Centre was a love-in compared.

Great as ever, and fully hyped up for the Hammersmith show tomorrow, lovely photos too - I can spot my bald patch sad.gif
