Absolutely awesome. Never seen so many smiling faces on the way out. A reminder why we all bother in the first place.

Right then, just back from Liverpool.

Set was (pretty much jotted down at the time)...

Intro (with Tim & Rob repeating 'Senior Twilight Stock Replacer')
My Door
Over Over
Pacifying Joint
Fall Sound
Hungry Freaks Daddy (slowed down from the Boddingtons Brewery show to my ears)
Theme from Sparta FC
Mountain Energei
White Lightning
The Wright Stuff (Elena on solo vocal with Rob doing keyboards & MES off stage)

Encores:
Wrong Place Right TIme
Reformation

Systematic Abuse

NO Blindness or Mr P!!!

Lineup:
MES
Elena
Tim
Rob
Dave
Orpheo

Played about 65 minutes. Overall, very focused, quite affable to band, not much twiddling, mic passed to audience for Reformation

That'll have to keep you happy while I download some photos I took; I also saw quite a few other cameras in use so there could be quite a few snaps to post.

agreed!!

Best of the 3 so far to my ears - hope that is not just the ale talking...

time: 2200 - 2310 - 70 mins

set-list:

1. Newbie to me (Rob vocal then MES random stuff) any ideas?
2. My Door
3. Over Over
4. Pacifying Joint
5. FALL Sound
6. Hungry Freaks, Daddy
7. Sparta FC
8. Mountain Energei
9. White Lightning
10. Wright Stuff (EP vox, no MES, RB keys)
encore 1:
11. Wrong Place, Right time
12. Reformation
encore 2:
13 Systematic Abuse

Sound problems for first song, MES appeared looking (shall we say) leery? But then it just kicked in splendidly - My door was magnificent as were PJ and Fall sound. Agree i like the slow version of WL. Reformation nowhere near as good as the BBurn showing which was the best thing I've heard from them in a long time.

Overall Very good tonight - 3 different sets in 3 shows (despite similar songs) - a good tour get to it - I'm happy!

Band as per Blackburn.

Altfish - Tock was here with recording gear, hope the Anniversary was good - all the best.

Last night was the first time I've seen the american band. I thought they were shit hot - way better than the last band (but that could be the carling speaking).

I saw the Fall last time they played liverpool carling academy (2005) but I enjoyed last night's show more. The band was tighter, MES was on top form and the crowd was more lively - the new songs are real crowd-pleasers.

The highlights for me were My Door and Sparta.

Sounds like the tour's gonna be a cracker.

The site won't let me register. Something about there being a limit of 100,000 users at any one time. Would anybody care to lend me their username and password? I am entirely honourable! smile.gif

Downloading it now. First time I've ever done this. Does it always take this long? Time elapsed 2hrs17, time remaining 1hr17.

Also, what am I uploading?

You are uploading the parts of the file that you have already downloaded to your pc. Hope that makes sense?

Yes, thanks. I rather hoped that it would be something like that.

Aye - splendid photos - cheers. applaud.gif

worth noting that the house lights were up before they came back for Systematic abuse - and Elena came back on with her coat on, obviously ready to leave the venue! I just love the contrariness (sp?) of it all, even after all these years.

What a lovely package - music, photographs...
A wonderful reward for having spent the last 2 days trying to do a "Why I Am So Shit Hot For This Job" note for my latest application form. "Mr America Walk on By...." great stuff.
