I guess it means they pay the band's fee, the staff wages maybe, in return for having their name associated with it. It's been around since Soap Operas first started.

It's as dumb as the Mojo / HMV 'events as marketing strategy' - the Fall can do without this sort of neutering. Nobody can organise anything these days without expecting corporate kickback through sponsorship. What's the matter? aren't ticket prices high enough?. The Guardian: tickets will be full of corrections and apologies and the ink will come right of in your hand. Maybe Simpo will be support act.
I will be there . applaud.gif

Someone has to put up the money before any concert, don't they?

Can anyone explain the difference between a ' sponsored ' gig , and the normal way of doing it ? Thanks .

Guardian seems the obvious choice to me.

Hope they make MES do a quick "Good evening, we are the Fall and we read the Guardian" intro. Seems only fair.

I bet he does too, in secret.

We show that whether the short sighted phenotype will be an evolutionary stable strategy (and thus lead to the collapse of civilization) depends on the initial proportion of short sighted people relative to people with foresight as well as their relative discount rates. Further we explore some comparative static results that connect the probability of the game continuing and the relative size of the two discount rates to the likelihood that civilization will collapse.

I have often wondered what the reference to 'Hebden Bridge' really meant in Blindness but at the weekend saw (in the Guardian) someone northern refer to it as a '...classic ghetto of guardian reading artists and media types...'

Hm, I'd like to see them play somewhere else. Isn't this the 3rd time they've played Koko in about a year?

I'll second this. Koko is just about the worst venue of this sort of size i've ever been in. Twice i've been and twice i've walked out early due to incredibly bad sound which i put down to the set up of the place - loads of noise from the bar drowning out the music being the main problem. Dragged the manager out of his office the second time and demanded a refund - never happened though as apparently i was wrong about his venue being a load of turd.

Can't decide whether to just go to this one which is a halfhour away from me and just hope The Fall can succeed where Silver Mt. Zion, and whoever else it was i saw there, didn't or if i should hedge my bets and take my girlfriend Dave for a trip to Windsor instead.

Actually that's a bit of a no-brainer, she'd like that, i never take her anywhere.

Glad i got that sorted.

More girlfriends should be called Dave I feel.

Sound wasn't bad at the Koko last time if memory serves.

Where is Koko anyway? Is it the old Camden Palace?
I've got vague recollections of seeing the Fall there once before, but I could be wrong - old Fall gigs and Camden venues all merge into one impenetrable blur for me.

If I were able to go to either I'd prefer the Windsor gig, f**ing Camden, I feel I've spent half my gig going life there. It might be convenient, but so is Tesco. There's no soul in NW1.

I do hope you're not implying Dave is breastless or not a proper girl, she has all the requisite woman bits i can assure you and is actually quite feminine once she's had a shave.

Thing is she isn't really called Dave, well at least by anyone but me - It's one of them pet name things as i'm a bit of an old romantic.

Certainly not!

I was just surprised that Archie was a fully working female with fully working female attributes. She was an actress, so maybe it was a stage name. wacko.gif

Anyway, I digress....

Anyone know anything about this, like, where do you get tickets? None of the usual sources seem aware of it, and a search on the Guardian's website revealed nothing.

Is someone 'avin' a larf?
