Those are great, I haven't been to Cornwall for about 15 years, didn't know about all the megaliths and stuff there...

it's very phallic and sexual, isn't it? I suddenly had a flashback to more 'flusher' times and thought, hmm could go to Cornwall soon and take pics, then remembered it costs money an incentive to work hard and prosper i guess... -------------------- |

I saw something similar on the Antiques Road Show a few years ago. Give them a call Zoot – it could be worth something. -------------------- You'll never see me in a suit of green

Some pictures of less well known sights in cornwall will follow. But not today. Did you know that the internet cafes charge £3.60 an hour down here. |

I bought a medium size steak pastie yesterday at St Just. They are valued at £2.05 and are very delicious. |

No problem. It'll look particularly lovely in the sunshine, so perhaps tomorrow would be better than today. -------------------- Burrows

are you trying to suggest it was a monument to anal sex? Seriously tho, cave paintings, white men on hills, were sexual by nature, who's to say this monument isn't. It seemed so to me. -------------------- |

Somewhere I think off the road between St Ives and Zennor (it was over 20 years ago when I was there) there is a narrow track that goes past a small cottage where Barry Humphries once stayed (he had to be airlifted from somewhere near when he got injured by falling) and then goes into a small wood and kind of loses itself. Somewhere down there is a wooden sign reading "Wicca" and in the wood are the remains of several cottages - a small village. It could have been in an EF Benson or HP Lovecraft story. I found it strange and romantic more than creepy, though.
Good pics, by the way. -------------------- "... a shiftless person, roving and magotie-headed, and sometimes little better than crased."
"Anno 1670, not far from Cirencester, was an Apparition: being demanded, whether a good Spirit or a bad? returned no answer but disappeared with a curious Perfume and a most melodious Twang. Mr W. Lilley believes it was a farie." "All the best music on Broadway is native." - The Evil Prince |

I call this one Quoit Before The Storm (gedditt?)
![]() I was quite moved by this scruffy statue of the Virgin Mary in Sennen Church. It was recovered from a wall niche three hundred years ago. The guidebook says "It's just as well to blame the roundheads for the damage". It was given a new head and baby jesus (modelled from clay in recent years). My insensitive use of flash set on full blast adds to the strangeness of this tiny figure. ![]() Not sure why this is lying down. Photobucket is misbehaving today. fixed it. |

Thanks Aubrey. We might have a look at Wicca next time we're down that way. (On edit next day) We have a brilliant book called Journey to the Stones which has lots of country walks to interesting stone circles etc in it. It shows a walk that goes through Wicca via about twenty old stiles. We'll definitely be going there on the next sunny day we get. |
