Canada-Q102 Protocol on Ambassadors

Preamble
Interregional politics are often complicated by misunderstandings, as ambassadors may be unsure of how to behave in their appointed region. To draw an end to these misunderstandings and provide a guide to the role of ambassadors, through discussion with many friends from other regions, Q102 and Canada have hosted the creation of a set of protocols for ambassadors everywhere.

Article I Frequency Of Visits
1. A minimum of two visits per week as a guideline with more contact being preferable.
2. Ideally the Ambassador will provide a weekly update of news from their region, where available, promptly and be prepared to answer questions in their embassy.

Article II Reports
Ambassadors should endeavour to give regular reports of the events and affairs of their region, to be delivered in their embassy. Reports could include (but are not limited to):
1. Diplomatic Events
2. Regional Affairs (including UN)
3. Governmental affairs
4. Other regional events

Article III Behaviour
A. Etiquette
Ambassadors should introduce themselves in an appropriate area of the board, either their embassy or more informally in a general introduction forum.

B. Rhetoric
Ambassadors should only take part in internal affairs or UN resolution discussions if this is welcome in the region. The level of participation should ideally be established at the point when an embassy is opened and the Ambassador be briefed by their home region. In the absence of such information the Ambassador should ask a suitable Government member on arrival in the region.

C. Identification
Regions may choose varying ways to indicate that a member of their forum is an ambassador. In addition to these Ambassadors should indicate their status, including the region they represent somewhere in their forum signature.

Article IV Activity
A. Forum Usage
1. Ambassadors should try and participate in the forums of the region in order to build the relationship between the regions.
2. Ambassadors should be mindful of the fact that they are representing their region and act accordingly.
3. If Ambassadors wish to borrow or adopt ideas from the region to suggest to their home region they should first ask someone in a suitable position of authority and abide by that decision.

B. Participation with Regional Members
1. Participation with the nations in the region should be encouraged, as in playing RP and other types of games. So long as an ambassador doesn’t show any desire to change the region or effect their decisions, the ambassador should be free to participate as much as he wishes. Also, participating in games and such with natives will encourage a stronger friendship between the regions, and the natives will better know the ambassador.

C. Puppets in the Region
1. Ambassadors should only place a puppet in the region if this is welcome there. This should ideally be established at the point when an embassy is opened and the Ambassador be briefed by their home region. In the absence of such information the Ambassador should ask a suitable Government member on arrival in the region.
