Just watching Rambo (the new one). It's terrible so I thought I would just let you know where things stand on the new album. The songs are all there - we will get around to start recording them at some point but I'm not sure exactly when. I know Paul is eager but the other boys are quite busy (including me) with other plans.
It's tricky as SS never made any money so it's all done for love - and that means it's financed through selling my body to medical science / pimping out my cat to the local toms. That said - it will happen. Even if it's only the hardcore 10 of you who hear it - it'll still make your day I'm sure. I'm still listening to all the demos on my ipod thinking that it'll be the best album ever - but isn't that always the way.
I can't really say which way I want to go with it but I think it will sound quite rough - but in a good way. Sort of like Sleeps With Angels by NY or In Utero. I really don't want it to be too polished as we've been there & done that. It'll definately be live in the studio. 10 tracks, 30 minutes - you know the drill. Analogue is king.
Anyway, John Rambo is about to spear a few more gooks so I must dash

So, things are ticking away behind the scenes... not that we ever doubted it. Glad to know it's not just students who consider the medical research option... tongue.gif

Nice to hear from you, ol' chap.

This great news has made my day James. Fantastic, can't wait! A less polished sounding Silver Sun is a very intriguing possiblity. There are way more than 10 of us waiting with baited breath for this release though, rest assured! How about sending a demo track our way just for a little taste? :-)

I can't believe so much time has passed since DWD, it seems like only yesterday the postman brought a package from Japan to my door and i tore it up with insane gusto.

Hope you manage to get stuff together soon, we all can't wait!

Oh, and the new Rambo was good! At least i thought so.

Rambo Schmambo - I don't see a review of it ton the movie section!!!!!

Thanks for the update James. Interesting to read that The Blow Monkeys new album was recorded using money raised from fans.As was Dodgy's Real Estate.

Are you up for a fundraising session chaps? (In the non-sexist lexicon, naturally!) biggrin.gif

Yeah, yeah, Nick, I'd be quite happy to get cake baking and jumble saling, but if they've got babies and DIY and Rambo films to keep them busy, money might not make much difference. Bribery perhaps? Obviously I'm really really glad A Lick and a Promise is still happening, but [whispers] I thought you were all starting recording last August?

Is Rambo's first name really John?

If you need cheap studio time in North London, I may be able to assist. Just thought I'd throw that in.

Awesome news - can't wait to hear whatever it ends up being.. laugh.gif

I didn't mind Rambo. Wasn't as cheesy as I thought it'd be, well not in the same way as the old ones.. bit more serious than the others and a lot gorier. I liked it more than the latest Rocky anyway.

In the meantime, I can highly recomend the new Backyard Babies album (called Backyard Babies). No Silver Sun but a quality piece of Swedish rock. Seeing em next week too, should be fun smile.gif

Doing well thanks. Just looking for another opportunity to come down to Old London Town! How about one gig a year JB... Thought Rambo was ace btw. I came out the cinema with a nosebleed and my hair looking like I'd just been dragged through a hedge - the violence was so OTT! Anyways, can't wait for A Lick and a Promise!

I mean loved Hard Boiled & thought it's tally of 330? on screen deathswas something else but I found Rambo beyond Ultra Violent & the gore of it was way OTT
I mean the movie is only 75 mins as the titles are nearly 10 mins long

Too violent & it didn't feel like a Rambo film.

First Blood will always be the best.

Ahh sorry scotty, yea nice if you'd come down again let all hope for a gig soon enough
