I have recently downloaded the Medal of Honor Airborne demo just to find my video card or driver or whatever, is incompatible with the game. I emailed MOH staff about this several days ago, but got no response. I feel my video thing is good enough, though. I also think there is some command to make the program run without checking the video card. Can someone help me PLEASE?

Well, whats the card...and whats the list of compatable cards? There should be a way to run it in a different mode...like DirectX, OpenGL, Software, Hardware...hardware is your problem, If you have a good cpu (overclockin'!) you might could use one of the software renders like DX and OGL. I don't think any new games use a coded Software mode anymore...they use universal things like the listed above. (I'm not a war gamer, just a 3d one. I'm not into the MOH specs.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6626us Entertainment notebook PC (so I cannot change video card).

Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5250 1.5GHz processor

Nearly 1 gig of ram (but enough to run Vista Aero)

Video: Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 (I don't know which is video driver)

I also have all the hard drive space in the world.

Required for demo:
• OS: Windows XP (SP2), Windows Vista (32-bit; 64-bit versions of
Windows Vista are not supported)

• CPU (Single Core): Intel P4 2.8 GHz or AMD Athlon 2800+ for
Windows XP / Intel P4 3.0 GHz or AMD Athlon 3800+ for Windows
Vista

• RAM: 1 GB for Windows XP / 1 GB for Windows Vista

• Hard Drive: 9 GB or more of free space

• Note: 64 bit versions of Windows are not supported

• Video: DirectX 9.0c, NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT, ATI Radeon
X1300 Pro, or better with Shader 3.0 support for Windows XP or
Vista (Note: NVIDIA 6800XT, 6800LE, 7100GS, 7200GS, 7200LE,
7300GS, 7300GT cards not supported). NOTE: NVIDIA SLI and ATI Crossfire modes are not supported
in Medal of Honor Airborne Demo.

• Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card (Note: For Creative
Sound Blaster Audigy cards running under Windows Vista you should expect
lower performance)
--------------------------
Still no responce from MOH

Hmm...your card type still isn't here. Look at your touchpad on the laptop. Go to the right (or left) to where the little stickers that say things like "intel centrino duo" or "designed for windows xp (or vista in your case)". Somewhere around there, there should be a sticker that says something to the effect of..."powered by NVIDA" or "ATI ....". Give that. Don't worry if no one posts yet. It took someone days to reply to mine on another forum...BUT! If no one answers or even looks at the post, do a double post with an appology for the double, then post some more info about the problem.

Your video card is the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, which is integrated into your motherboard and is associated with the Intel 956 chipset.

Here is some info:
QUOTE

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100 is an integrated (onboard) graphic chip on a Mobile Intel 965GM chipset (for Merom = Core 2 architecture). It is the successor of GMA 950. Most interesting is the integration of a fully programmable pipeline. Due to the integration of DirectX9 features, HDR and Hardware Transform & Lighning (T&L) - predecessor only had Software T&L - should be ready for Windows Vista Premium (support Aero Glass fully). Respective the data, the peformance should be clearly better than GMA 950.
Specifications

    * performance class: 5
    * codename: Crestline
    * clock: chip: 400 MHz
    * memory: main memory shared, max 256 MB
    * directX: 9c, Shader Model 3.0
    * features: Transform and Lighting Hardware Support, 32 Bit floating point precision, 16xAF, Occlusion Query, Hardware Clipping, DX10?
    * application area: small and light-weight notebooks

3DMark03: around 1700 Points

I'm not sure if it is as capable as an ATI X1300 though. Laptop graphics, especially Intel laptop graphics tend to be hardy, but not really all that spiffy. It sounds like more RAM would do you some good though- definitely if you're running Vista.

Yeah. So sounds like I need more memory. dry.gif Memory costs a lot now. The biggest sales have memory at around $70.

So now that leaves me at the question, how do I get MOHA to run?

RLY? I've seen it at regular price at best buy for $50 before...

And your problem isn't lack of memory. Nowadays EA tends to [so it seems to me] "code out" the ability to use certain cards that, while physically capable of playing the game, are not made by their buddies over at company xyz. I ran into this with the Battlefield 2 Demo. My card was PERFECTLY capable of playing the game, but they coded out the ability to use it.

Medal of Honor is an EA series? I never knew... geeze. I've also seen EA games refusing to play on perfectly able cards. Intel integrated graphics are ones I see overlooked a lot.

RAM still might be a good thing to think about because your video card has no dedicated memory so it steals up to 256mb the system memory. If you're looking for good prices on RAM and such, you should check out Newegg.com. They pretty much always beat in-store prices, plus there is no tax, and usually free shipping. Plus a huge selection.

Personally, I say forget Airborne, and go straight for the Heroes 2 for the Wii.

Yes, it's an EA game. I had to deal with "EA GAMES! challenge eeeeeverything" screaming at me back when I used to play Medal of Honor: Allied Assault online. heh, I used to be GOOD at that game. happy.gif

Oh, indeed. I'm not saying RAM wouldn't be a good idea [you can NEVER have too much], but it's just not causing his problem [alas]
