My Greetings to All and Sundry,

For those of you new to the Region of Wysteria and its Forum, there is a lot to take in at first glance. I'd suggest reading as much of the Forum threads as you are comfortable with in the areas that interest you the most. You should feel free to start story threads about incidents or big stories in your Nation. The more reasonable and plausible your story lines the more they are likely to be accepted and participated in by the rest of your fellow Wysterians. You can dream up a long-term story line, which takes months to wrap up, or just make a quick news style or government announcement from your Nation State. For the purposes of more realistic role-playing, you should drop two zeroes off your population and all budget figures from NS calculators, to ensure that we have nations sized to something a bit more sane.

There are various Groups and Organizations that exist in Wysteria: IWLEN, the Wysterian Union, WRRP (Wysterian Refugee Relocation Program), the WA (Wysterian Alliance) and of course the WSA (Wysterian Space Agency), the Billionaires Club (membership requiring a billion population and they pretty much just sit around and sniff cognac).

In the WSA (Wysterian Space Agency) Lunar 3 Mission has concluded and future missions to Mars and the Outer Planets are taking shape. Feel free to seek participation in future missions, as well as announce your own rocket tests, satellite launches, and the building of observatories.

There are also places to establish Trade and various areas in the Forum to discuss the scientific achievements of your Nation. As with all Role-Playing in Wysteria, we ask that you be reasonable and keep to tech levels of the kind being proposed by such magazines as Scientific American, Popular Science, and Popular Mechanics. Just browsing magazines like these will likely result in all sorts of ideas about the developing of new areas of research. If you have questions on what you can and can't use, please ask.

For the literary types we have places for your Poetry, Short Stories, or even take part in some of the collaborative writing efforts. The Out of Character area is for talking about life in general, outside of Nation States; so feel free to make use of it at any time. Of course I'm always hoping to see a few more hockey fans posting in the NHL area, so if you're a fan of the coolest game on Earth that would be awesome.

It's a plus that we also have a Map of Wysteria, so that you can request a coordinate on our Map and then cause Equus a whole lot of work by making her do yet another detailed map of your Nation (or if you want to be merciful and have the resources to ask for a Map Template and do it yourself). The layered Map of the Region is one of the more unique features in Wysteria and one that we are very proud of.

We also have a Chat Room. We have arranged for weekly chat get togethers as a region, but there’s no reason why anyone cannot organize a different time or day to gather on it, and we encourage you to get the most out of this Region’s services. Above all enjoy your residence in the Region of Wysteria and have fun while you’re here.

While "we" have been here only a few days...

I must state that I chose very wisely (what else would you expect cool.gif with a name like ours) where to place our new home...

To The Great Bruce and the ever diligent Equus I express my deep appreciation for letting us join you and the other member nations here...

Thanks for the invite. Although this is not my first nation, it will be my first attempt at RP'ing a nation. Previously, NS has just been a lunch-hour time-waster, but the depth of Wysteria as a community has inspired me to try my hand at meta-gaming.

First, however, it's time to get up to speed on the goings-on and histories of the region. Cheers!

Greetings to All and Sundry,

Good to have you aboard, Grosville, and I hope to see you immerse yourself in the region’s RP’s once you have the time to sink into the depth of its threads a bit.

I was initially going to start with a backwards Message, but they give me headaches anyway.
My nation in Wysteria Is The Sdrawkcab Gniklat Noitan of Aotakac, which is the backwards form of my main Nation, Cakatoa. I wasn't sure whether I should register as that or my Wysterian nation, but if it can always be changed if necessary.

I came to Wysteria after a puppet of mine got freed up. I had heard of Wysteria only recently, so decided to join and see what is what. Already I have noticed Nastic bumbling around somewhere. laugh.gif

So, Hi!

Cakatoa in the West Pacific…your flag is familiar. Did I send you a recruiting telegram last year or the year before that? The West Pacific was always my favourite feeder region to prey on as a recruiter for Wysteria and your nation state is exactly the kind that I would have invited.

That Nastic, he's always been a Wysterian. It just took him a while realize it. smile.gif

Actually, Cakatoa was only in TWP briefly to help witht their recent problems. I was actually from TNP like Nastic was, untill I moved to Lemuria, where Cakatoa is now. Well spotted, though!
I do think that you sent me a recruitment TM, I am just not sure which nation Recieved it....I used my current flag on all of my Cakatoa puppets from 2-7. I also had Cakatoian and this one. I only have Cakatoa 2 and 3 left now, along with this nation. It was a bit of a bother to keep them all active. I kept at least one of them in each feeder, so perhaps thats where you spotted them.

Greetings Wysteria,

I have just moved my nation to your worthy region. I hope it's alright... I didn't receive an invitation per se, but I have been observing Wysteria off and on for a while now. Basically there are quite a few nations I recognize from sharing space on the top rankings of the world surveys.

Anyway, a little about myself. I started playing NS a long, long time ago. I fergets when exactly, but I just recently went over the 6 billion mark. I started out in a region created by some of my friends from another online community. Eventually, they all quit and I was the only one who felt compelled to keep logging in. A long while later, they even made a comeback and we reformed the region. However, once again they all eventually quit and I was again left as the sole survivor.

I moved around between various regions, but never found one that really fit me. Because I was so large compared to most of the nations around me, I always found myself at the very top or bottom of the regional UN lists everytime. Like I said, I recognized a lot of Wysteria names that appeared a lot near mine on world UN lists, so I decided to check the region out. It seems pretty cool so far, a lot of nations that are inexplicably compelled to keep playing this game (like me, hehehe...), a mature region that takes itself seriously but is still geared towards creating a fun experience for its members.

So, if you all will have me, I'd like to give it a try here. I know a lot of you are big into rp... I haven't ever openly rp'd in this game myself, though I suppose I could always start up if I felt like it... I have a very clear idea of what my nation is supposed to be, and I have been devout in following that idea since I started playing. Probably though, I'd end up changing my title to something more appropriate... Disabled Helper-Monkey just doesn't seem very rp'ish, hehehe.

Anyways, that all for now. I really gotta run, but I'll be back. Peace, and see you on the top 10!

After receiving your telegram and announcing departure from our former Region, the Mekong Dominion is proud to be a member of Wysteria.
It's good to find a region with a steady RP that actually fits my politics! happy.gif

Hello Everybody!!!

I've just discovered the NationStates game, and I must say it really appeals to me and I-m very excited to be playing this game javascript:emoticon('')
smiliee. I found that my active imagination and daydreaming can really flourish in here. I've chosen Wysteria region, because of your wonderful site, and i am especially interested in your Map feature.javascript:emoticon('')
smilie I'm yet to learn more about the rules of this site, so I don't know yet how or if I'm allowed to post my nation's map on your Wysteria World Map. If possible I'd wish to edit the map by myself, but I don't know how. Also I don't know where can I post the story of my own nation.I hope you'll accept me and guide me. I appologizies if i'm too much troublejavascript:emoticon('')
smilie

Best wishes!
Mardonius

Hi Mardonius,

You are very welcome to post a national map on our site, and you are welcome to do your own. I do have templates for a lot of coordinates already - if you pick a site that has a template, I can send it to you, or you can start it all over from scratch if you want.

And welcome to Wysteria!

D.

Healthcare systems, condensed:

You see, under our current Greatest Healthcare System in the World®, you are free to choose whether you have a lot of money and excellent health insurance, or whether you are poor and have no health insurance. If you make the first choice, you get access to the greatest medical care in the world. If you make the second choice, you don’t. It’s all about teh freedom.

Under Socialized Medicine, everyone is forced to have good health insurance. This means that we have much less freedom. And those of us who choose to have lots of money can’t feel superior on the basis of our access to better medical care.
