Hi, and welcome to Muggle Studies. I am your teacher, MrChuckles. I plan to make this class as fun and interesting as possible. I have a few things I would like to explain.
- Respect The Teacher - I can't make you like me (I hope you do) but I will require that you respect me, please follow any instructions I give and don't question me.
- Respect Other Students - I will require you to respect other students. Once again, you may not like them, but you will respect them. I will not tolerate pranks, bad-mouthing, or otherwise being mean to other students.
- Homework - After each class, I will assign homework. Please OWL (PM) it to me. E-mailing it will result in a loss of points for your house. The homework, most of the time, will be fairly simple and straigtforward. You can probably find the answer in the classroom text for the day. I may require you to search outside of the classroom for answers (ie Having to research something) but this will be rare. Also, once a month I will assign a research project that is triple the points of a normal homework assignment. I will expect three paragraphs for said assignments, but you don't need to worry, this will not be for at least a month.
- Grading - I will grade fairly. All assignments will be graded on a scale of 1 to 5 points. I can give you 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. Occassionally, if a particular answer stands out, you may get 6. I am fair in my grading, and although I do want my house to have more points, I will not show favourtism. You may question a grade in a professional manner, but I will not tolerate the following types of messages, "MY ASSIGNMENT WAS BETTER THAN WHAT YOU GRADED ME FOR. GIVE ME MORE POINTS!" or anything equally threatening. I will consider your point if you say politely, "I believe my assignment was worth more points than that. I believe so for 'X' reason because 'bla bla bla.' Please consider my request for a grade change." I will be fair in this as well.
Understand? If not, please feel free to OWL (PM) me. Thank you so much.
