'Tis a lovely model indeed. My only criticism (not that I could do better, obviously) would be that something seems to be a little off with the positioning of the legs - as if his hips are displaced slightly forwards from the base of his torso. I don't know if it's just the 2D image making me think that, or possibly the thickness of the robes/tabard/thingy over his thighs...

Quite cool. Looks somewhat stocky for an elf, but still very, very nice. As for that Druchii army (shifty eyes) ...

That is hot.

Having posted the picture on coolminiornot.com, it currently has scored 4.5.... I'm honestly pretty despondant about it at the moment, and somewhat angry, because while I don't think it's more than 6 or 7 on there, I think that my work is better than some of the sculpts I've seen on there which completely lack composition. But, what can you do but get back to the bench and get back to work? I'm currently working on s few mehods that will signifigantly help my sculpting scores on there.

Back to the drawing board.

Not at all. Looking at the site many of the mini's that get higher scores are painted. So I don't think you are getting marked down due to your modeling skill. More that its not painted. It is a damn good model. No doubt about that.

Yeah, people tend to rate higher on coolimini when the thing is painted. Human eyes like pretty colours, what can I say? Once it's painted up, I'll wager that the score would go up.

Except you're selling it. But, I mean, IF it was painted up. Thing. You get what I mean.

Its a great model. Don't be discouraged by cool mini on a site that large your bound to get people who quickly judge things without looking at them closely. You should have no trouble selling that mini. Great job by the way! I'm sure there are many dark elf generals waiting for a hero.

Thank you for the compliments, all. I truly appreciate what you have said so far. While I am less than pleased on the results of the miniature so far, I have sat down and reconsidered a few options that lie before me on the path of sculpting, and I have come to the conclusion that I can make my works truly great if I begin to use a few more techniques than what I have so far. While I have never been a big fan of some of them, such as press molding, I think that I can make works comparable to scibor (look him up on CMON) if I just bite the bullet and swallow my pride. It would seem my strength is in the composition of the miniature. If I would but add the intricacy that my works deserve, I think they would be something amazing...

I may be posting something in the painting and modeling section showing some other works I'm doing. My favorite at the moment is a black guard hero, converted from the bodyguard of the head haunco of the Dark Eldar. It's quite tasty, and includes a mini dragon head and more skulls... SKULLS!

eh, I really don't paint, I just like to sculpt. I love small scale human forms- it allows me to see the piece fully, and not get TOO tunnel visioned on one part.

I'm actually working on a commission right now for an ogre tyrant, and the piece is looking rather snazzy, if I say so myself. nothing says bad like a severed giant's head on a japanese style banner.

Did I mention I sculpted the backside of the giant's severed head?
