The History of Epion

The start of Epion was the same as any other world. There was one God, one continent, and one race of his chosen people, many beasts, and many evils. Slowly god allowed his people to split and become different peoples. The races consisted of the elves, humans, Torians, Caprians, harpies, Lichen and Olaru. The elves: being the most intellectual of the races had congress with God and was the arbiters between the peoples and their creator. The elves also had a serious pride problem and thought that they were being diverted from greatness by god. They gathered the peoples of Epion and called forth God. They asked him to release the hold of his people and allow them to seek the truth with their own eyes. God; being deeply offended, cast down the greatest punishment of all. He granted them their wishes and departed from their lives. The absence of God split the continent in two and forever changed the planet. In his place he created two half gods. The Proprietor and the Hexxan lord, the law and the hate. The Proprietor was the sole power in Epion able to decimate any army any being in his way, but only if it threatened the existence of Epion itself. The Hexxan lord was created to ensure that the peoples never reached a utopia. The Proprietor was emotionless no free will while the Hexxan was allowed to think and act according to how he saw fit. In place of Gods compassion, he created six thrones for the peoples of Epion to posses deemed as saints. The king of the Saints was a man know as Angel. He was allowed all the powers of God. To see all hear all and to create and destroy all. The only power he was denied was the power to intervene.

The Epionic War
In the wake of the absence of God the elves convinced the humans that God left in anger of the minor races. The elves had the minor races banished to the continent of Ralmar. The half goat half-human Caprians inhabited the Mountain of Six seasons. The serpent like race of Olaru became corrupted by the evils of the Great Desert. Some lost their souls and became intelligent beasts know as duneads, capable of changing their genetic structure overtime. The Torians divided into tribes and all of them inhabited the lands south of the River of Sorrow. The harpies being granted the gift of flight became nomads and moved from region to region. The elves began to set the gears of war into motion. With the blind loyalty of man, the elves decided banishment was not enough, only purifying the world would God return. The elves fearing the physical superiority of Caprians decided that the human’s great numbers would be the only solution to killing off the goat breed. The elves themselves would eliminate the Torian seeing how they were nothing more than over logical humans. The elves had actually expected the Caprians to kill the humans, but with their loss in numbers, would not pose a significant threat once they pushed north towards the Mountain. The elves expected that the duneads would eventually die off and when the harpies did land, they would slowly dwindle their race into oblivion. The war lasted for 25 centuries. The humans were decimated. The humans once made up 80% of the global population and in the span of the war were down to 35%. The dwindled Caprians had the assistance of the harpies, who lost no souls in the war.
The Caprian strategy was to force the humans to fight on the mountain were the adverse weather caused almost half the deaths of the human armies. The elves landed in the delta to the south, pushed their way upward, and found no signs of the Torians. They crossed the river and still had not seen any trace of the Torians. Only until halfway into the desert did they encounter the Torians. The trap had been sprung the tribes had lured the prideful elves into the desert were they would be an easy target for the duneads. The centurions possessed iron like skin making it difficult for the duneads to feast upon them. The elves were fighting a two front war. Although both sides suffered tremendous losses, it appeared as if the elfish plan was going to succeed. One the last day of the war a golden Figure plummeted out of the clouds. Landed in the great desert and began to slaughter the elves. It was the Proprietor, he had sensed that the elfish plan was going to succeed and thus intervened. Once every elf on Ralmar had been slain, he made his way to Torent and killed all the elves in the land. In two days, the entire race of elves had been wiped out.

Era 3 unifying of the races

The humans had recovered their numbers and once again become the most populous race on Epion. Unfortunately, their participation in the war had secluded them from the rest of the world. Their only ally was the skeptical harpies, who have found a home on the Deltorees plateau. They began a grand quest to unite there own kingdoms and to gain the trust of their former brethren. Meanwhile the Caprians and Torians had already set in place a treaty of their own. The Caprians would control all lands north of the river and the Torian would control all lands south of the river. The Caprians Great War strength would prevent the duneads from progressing south as long as the fertile Torian fields would set aside its some of its crops for Caprian consumption, considering the mountain could not grow crops. The humans sent an ambassador to speak with the Torians hoping that they could convince the Caprians to join in a global alliance. The Torians accepted and vowed to change the views of their northern partners. The Torians approached the Caprian prince and with his help convinced the Caprians to not ally with the humans, but to allow them a chance to share ideas and technologies. Warn saw the promise of such an act and decide to find his father. The King, Emrack was on his own quest to eliminate the rest of the humans left in Ralmar. Warn tracked his father down and saved the human kingdoms of the plains. The great Caprian wizard Zenji, brother to the prince, summoned from the sea a large island. On this island a great chamber was erected to house a grand Epionic Senate. This was the final sign of reconcilliation. In the senate the head seat was to be elected upon and with two lesser seats that could challenge the sole power of the Head of Senate. Each of the three major races was guaranteed a seat. The Caprians, humans, and Torians, the harpies were allowed to vote and hold senators, but not allowed a high seat. The duneads were not allowed into the senate, due to the fact that they began to selfishly consume other beings to progress their own mutations. The senate held one thousand common seats each seat could be held to any deemed worthy. All were allowed to vote, but only the three head seats were allowed to suggest laws.
This time in history may seem peaceful, although many small battles were beginning to arise for seats in the senate. The first HoS (Head of Senate/ State) was Emrack Ravencroft; he was assassinated by the techno human Sickle, in an attempt to prompt an election. This caused a small band of Caprians to attack the senate itself. When prince Warn Ravencroft actually stopped the assault single handedly and was appointed to a lesser head seat. A human was voted into the HoS and a Torian chieftain was appointed to the other secondary seat. Many similar skirmishes began in a very similar way.

Era4
Acts of the Senate

The senate had made many advancements in many fields. There was little poverty, most epidemics had been cured or immunities had been developed and the technology began to sky rocket. Flight had been achieved along with other forms of mass transit. The humans tried to integrate their own kingdoms but to no avail. Some humans trying to achieve longer life spans joined up with a man know as Sickle. Sickle had found a way to merge machines with humans to augment their strength speed and life. The only drawback was that they had to be refueled so often that they could not venture to far away from certain points that produced this fuel. Around the same time, an alien race made its way to the lands of the Torians. Their technology was far beyond the grasp of the Torians that it took many years to find uses for their newfound gifts. Many years later a fraction of the Kawwas tribes formed a new tribe based of this new technology calling themselves the Approxian. The Approxian focused more on science than spirituality which was deemed heresy by most tribesmen. The ruling Taiog tribes allowed this and also adopted the aliens into a tribe called the Nrot and allowed them to dwell in the whirlpool, since it produced enough energy for them to continue their research. All seemed well as far as technology was concerned, unknowingly though a group of researchers under the payroll of the Hexxan was about to open a gate to another realm. Hexxan had known of a being that was destined to rule all realms. His name was Syphon, his gifts was the ability to produce spheres that were gateways themselves allowing him to teleport himself or any object he chose between the to points. Although it would seem he could go wherever he chose he was banished to a realm of terror. Incapable of magicks being used here he was the sole inheritor of this realm. Hexxan created a technical portal to bring this being into Epion. Believing since he was not of Epion birth the Proprietor would have no awareness of him. He was correct once Syphon was brought to Epion, Hexxan could not control him Syphon began his grand campaign of taking over all of Epion. He warped to the great Ratone Library and learned of God. His plan was simple enough, to become God.

Era 5
Syphon Claims the Senate
In his review of Epion History Syphon realized the humans were most malleable. Therefore, he made a bid to become a lesser senator. He was granted a seat and soon he did what no other could. He unified all human kingdoms. The way in which he did this was to banish the controversial techno-humans to the sand swamps. This move was actually agreed upon by Sickle, knowing that the sand swaps contained a vast supply of ore to fuel his people. The two formed a secret pact and Sickle began a new phase of development. He would genetically alter people into a new race in which Syphon would control. The Grays as they were called, due to the fact that their skin became gray like Syphons, were captured and forced to accept the painful transfusion. In the beginning the grays would not mutate past their current forms they gained the ability to contort their bodies into abstract shapes and stretch their bodies over 300 times their normal sizes. Not satisfied Sickle refined the serum and also placed in some Dolrite ore to allow the mutations to take affect as intended. This time the Blues, named because of blue skin, could mutate only after consuming a non blue being. Syphon also proposed a solution to the human overpopulation problem; he would create super-cities to ease the burden of overcrowding. Each city would be stacked all the way into the mid atmosphere were oxygen was still predominate enough to support life. Three cities would be built upon the edge of each kingdom close enough to connect, but far enough not to tread on the major townships of the kingdoms. The humans approved of this but questioned the man power to build such structures. Syphon unveiled the Blues claiming them to be a new race brought with him through the portal; Syphon claimed that Hexxan brought him through the portal to destroy Epion and upon learning of this world could not bring himself to destroy such magnificent beings. The Blues began to construct these mecha-structures and in the span of 4 years they were complete. Some humans volunteered to help and most believed that they were helping when actually they and many impoverished humans were being used as food to grow the Blues into new twisted creations. The humans viewing Syphon as a revolutionary leader elected him to the HoS position in his fist act he recommended that the Blues be released from service and inhabit a land of their own. The races did not accept this act at first but Syphon suggested that a floating city be built the problem he saw was that Epions gravity and magnetic fields would only allow it to hover in one location above the Senate. The senate approved; the races also knew that the Blues consumed beings and did not sit well with the fact of them living on their lands and thought if they lived in the clouds that they could pose no harm to them. In twelve years, the floating city was constructed and an invitation to the techno-humans was extended to join the new lands of steel.

Torin Class Information
Torin's hail from ~Epion~

Their territory lies on the Ralmar Continent, south of the river of Sorrow. The landscape is the most diverse in the Realm. From thick jungles, jagged mountains, rolling hills with scattered forest, to a small patch of dessert. The area is divided into regions known for the tribe that most dominate in that area by population. Tribes are known to wander, but the bulk of the particular tribe resides in their own region. The Torin Tribes major export is food. From vegetables, grain, meat and spices. Almost 1/3 of the Torrent Nation's food is grown there. 90% of the Ralmar continent depends on this harvest as well. Torin's do this not for money though, they do it because the world depends on it. The payment is just enough to cover Torin Social projects and funding for Counsel matters. The other half of food profits go to the Caprians, which transport it to the Torrent Nation.

Torin Anatomy

Torin's conceive about once every 65 years. The children are also born one at a time. Their gestation is about 6 years. This has been known to kill crossbreeds. The fetus does not produce a bump expanding more than 3 inches. The birth is given unto a pod. Seed like in nature. These pods are placed in nests high into the canopies of trees. Where children of 15 years, resembling that of only a human sixth year child. Takes care of these pods well into their infancy. Upon birth, the pod splits and reveals a toddler capable of steady walk and basic interaction. For 5 years, the infants stay high in the canopy depending on other children to raise them. After leaving the nests, the children spend the next 10 years staying around their tree of birth. Until they have raised a pod or two themselves. After leaving, the tree Torin's are considered adults and are left to discover the world on their own. All Torins are considered half pant half-humanoid mammal. Their cells are mammal like, but have chlorophyll. The still have to eat, but not much if they spend their time out in the sun and hydrated. Torins also posses regeneration properties to all non-critical areas. Mostly head and upper chest results in sure death. The heart is incased in a shell. This heart is said to be a seed, for when a Torin dies a large oak blooms in its grave. Tall enough and with enough girth, to house two child nests. The Torins also have a gift of Astral Conscious. All are able to send their spirit separate of their body allowing them to view the world around them or to use their spirits to alter specific elements.

Mating

Torins may mate with many different species. This decreases the chance for offspring, and the child will only show Torin characteristics typically. The child will be not be considered a highborn. Torins breeding Torin's are considered highborn. Even if one or both parents are mixed Torin's. The Noble's are only pure breed Torin's kept clean through the eons.

Torin Traits
Hyperactive Intellect- Brains Processing power is highly tuned.
Delicate senses. Can hear and see great distances. Sophisticated olfactory senses.
Complete index and photographic memory. Never forgets information, may ignore it though.
Rapid Reflexes. Built from hand eye coordination
Lesser organs are able to regenerate. (Does not apply for heart, brain, large portions of lung/stomach)
Limbs have slow but complete regenerative properties.

Metaphysical Mysticism- Using bodies own energies to interrupt and mold the world around you.
This is taught through out the tribes. Magick is forbidden in the Torin Federation, as it consumes the mana from the world around you instead of coming from yourself and is deemed heresy in Torin lands. This power is further regulated below.

Only speak Epion. Most choose only use other languages when it is necessary.

Astral projection- Allows Torin conscious to leave the body and traverse the astral realm as well as the world of their bodies’ location.

Torin Life

At age, 20 Torins enter their specific society. If born among the tribes the parents will introduce themselves along with the tribal leader. Then the Torin will take up the role typical of their tribe. Born outside of Torin territories parent will raise a child for about 15 years. The child will be physically weaker, but much more intelligent. However, these children also become manipulative, and cruel.

Tribes and Traits
Taiog- Royal Tribe
Mottuat- Warrior Tribe
Kawwas- Farming/Commerce Tribe
Nu'gozu- Slave Tribe

Nu'rot- Alien Race. Integrated into Torin Tribes.

Approxian- Mass secession of unorthodox Torin. Still participates in Counsel. Chose secession for more voice and freedom. This tribe toys with technology.

Structure:

Torin jobs are directly related to their tribe class. The slave tribe is not truly slaves so to speak. Instead, they agree to do what is best for the other tribes instead of themselves. Although there is a warrior tribe, they are usually, the first ones called to battle. The Nu'gozu also do the bulk of the farming.

The common tribe packs it, ships it, and collects revenue by and large.
The Kawwas are known for being the most populous of the tribes. The also have normal jobs such as tailors, innkeepers, and smiths. Since the war, it is said that fifty percent of all Torins you meet are born from the Kawwas or has a parent that was.

The Muttuats are the smallest tribe due to the crippling affects of the war. The only Muttuats to survive the war were the Elder Chiefs and the younglings. Since then it is rare to run across the true warriors of the tribes this lead to the Sentinel Contract.

The Royal tribes are the pure breads of the tribes. No crossbreeding in any of the twenty families has granted the gift of sight against the Astral Valence. It allows them to see the astral world as well as the physical realm simultaneously. Granting them the strongest mystic gift of Auramancy. Cosmic power in the palm of ones hand. Their social standing is also strenuously high almost alienating from typical tribe life. For they are the only Torin to build permanent homes.

Culture:

Art- Mostly song and stories. Painting and craft is abundant, but is more personal that spectacle.

Clothing- Form over fashion. Enough said.

Surname- the Fathers last name is the Suffix and the mothers first name is the prefix. Mothers lose their name in general and are referred to as the surname. Typically, they marry into the mother’s tribe. Exceptions. Royalty marries out.

Cuisine- A rich blend of natural foods. Fresh meats and veggies. Most drinks are also allowed. Torins however are poisoned by sweets. Refined or milled sugar will interact with certain glands in the body and cause's a massive decay in flesh around sweat prone areas. Too much sugar and it is guaranteed fatal.

Dwellings: Torin communities are known to move with weather changes. Since the seasons on Epion change dramatically, so to does the Torin lands. The tribes still respect their regions, but will never stay in the same place for long. Entire towns have been known to leave and sprout two different towns with a weeks travel in between. This fact has confounded more than one human cartographer. Torin homes are all basically tents. The common practice is to dig out a floor several feet deep and trench around it to collect water. Your tent skins would fasten low to the ground with enough tilt to allow water runoff. These huts are warm in winter and cool in summer. Constantly ventilated and dry year round. These huts are large enough to house five people comfortably. Only one room is need since Torin are very social with other Torin.

{This is a list of Metaphysical principles.}
{The rank is in respect to power.}
{Shaman, Templar, and Chief are the only Social Ranks.}
{Military Ranks still to come.}
{These arts are not entirely battle based.}
{Later posts will reveal in depth listings.}

Mystic Arts and Rank

Pyromactic
Aeromantic
Aquamantic
Geomantic
Auramantic*- Nobles only.
Necromantic*- Templar only.

Combined Arts:
Frost Sage- Water/Air
Sand Sage- Earth/Air
Bog Sage- Earth/Water
Volcanic Sage- Difficult* Fire/Earth
Steam Sage- Difficult* Fire/ Water

Shaman (Storm Sage)- Shamans are masters of all elemental mystics. Sought in the tribes as judges. Once this level has been achieved only Chieftain may command the person. (Storm Sage- They are often called storm sages until they master either Volcanic or Steam. Both are required for Chief Consideration, but only one for shaman.)

Templar*- A fully trained auramancer has all the powers of a Storm Sage. Once this time has come to pass Auramancers are knighted as Templar. These elite groups of Torin are considered Governors of the tribes and out rank any person other than Chiefs and Shaman. They are also ordered to defend the tribes with their lives. Necromancy is only taught at this stage as to the thin line this skill walks along the Torin Path

Chiefs. One high chief is the sole decider of the tribes. However over one hundred chiefs attend his counsel and all hold equal voice and often reason rules the day. Templar are considered chiefs in waiting since they have been groomed to be as such. Shaman is the only other path into Chief-hood. This path is abnormally rare.
