I don't know if Fireyone wants to post his prospective of this, but around 2008, we decided to play a quick game of Awakening of the rebellion, a Mod for the star wars real time strategy game, Empire at war. This "Quick game" Turned into a full scale war that lasted 8 hours. We had a handful of minor skirmishes and ONE GIANT ASS SPACE BATTLE that lasted about 2 hours. Mind you, Of course this is not canon.
----------------------------
A long time ago in a galaxy far,far away.

It was the year 10 ABY. At this time there were only two powerful factions vying for control of the galaxy. The Galactic Empire, led by Emperor Fireyone. And The Galactic Republic, led by Chancellor Kern. The galaxy was split between these two factions, both on the brink of war with one another. After many disagreements over resource and planetary control in the central core of the galaxy. The Galactic Empire and the Galactic Republic both were infused into a cold war era, of which a arms race was built around.
Although the Empire had a powerful army AND navy. The Republic matched them in every way.

The first signs of a full scale war to break out was three months into the cold war. Many planets were pirate controlled throughout the outer rim. The Empire, saw this as a opportunity to increase its boarders without openly attacking the Republic, and began a campaign to conquer these planets, bringing them under Imperial control. The initial campaign was unsuccessful. Although many worlds fell to the Imperial war machine, the Empire was defeated on many occasions, weakening its campaigning force, and causing it to call off the pirate wars.
The Republic, saw this as a opportunity. With the Pirate worlds weakened by the Imperial attacks, they launched their own attack. This Intergalactic Blitz Kreig crushed the remaining defenders, bringing dozens of worlds under their control, including Mustafar, Mon Calamari, and the planet Hapes.
This was a major blow to the Empire, cutting them off from many valuable shipyards, and the production blue prints of the powerful warships, the Hapan dragons.

More months past after the end of the Pirate wars. After disputes over controls of planets such as curoscaunt, the Cold war turned hot.

Multiple skirmishes where held all over the galaxy, in a attempt to weaken the powerful navies of both sides. Kessel became a grave yard, and the republic capital of Curoscaunt, became a sight, of dozens of bloody battles.

Part-ways into the conflict, both sides became aware of the cost of training millions of soldiers for conflict, and looked to a new source, droids.
From mustafar, Geonosis, and many other worlds. The production of droids became top priority. Until billions served on each side of the conflict.

The first major battle in the Great galactic war came at the battle of dantooine. A planet controlled by the Empire. The Republic launched a massive assault against its enemy. Attempting to liberate the planet and bring it under Republic rule. This is recorded to be the bloodiest and most devastating battle in the war, costing each side hundreds of ships. four Hapan dragons were reported to be lost in the conflict for the republic. The Imperial navy successfully pushed back the attack on dantooine, but not without cost. The entire fleet was destroyed, including two preator class warships and the Executor Super star destroyer. Although the land invasion was called off, the Republic claimed it as a Phyrrus victory, Although loosing many vessels, the Empire lost twice as many.
--------------------------------------
And this is where we stopped playing, We're probably gonna start again some time soon, but this is all what happened in the Great galactic war of 2008.
