As we all know, Donald Trump, along with by Kenneth Gardner and Herbert Belton, come up with a new design for the WTC site.

I remember a year or so ago looking at the proposed replacements for the old Twin Towers. None of the proposed structures appealed me. As a result, I had to choose the best out of all of them. The one that I could live with the most. The one that would give New York some sort of resemblence to the skyline I had grown accustom to over the years. The Freedom Tower was my final chose. None of the other proposals were close.

Two weeks ago I checked out the New Twin Towers proposal. I am still in a state of shock. Not only did they get it right, but it represents what I had been wishing for sence the old Twin Tower came down. I never thought I would want to rebuild the old towers again, but looking at the plan put forth by this group of designers has change my mind; although, I get kind of emotional just looking at the proposal.

On the other hand, I took a look at the project again today and I have come to the conclusion that Twin Towers II is a little to late and there are two things I want to point out. But before I continue, I want to say that working in a building over 80 storys is like taking a ride in an airplane. So for those people that say they would never work in a skyscraper again, I would as them "How often do you take a plan trip"? How often does a skyscraper fall out of the sky? I'm no statistician but.....

I agree with the morners that ask "Why did they wait so long to present this proposal". Seeing the new tower might bring back a lot of pain, but it's my opinion that people should face their fears and grow. I think thats by having something to help people face their fears helps in the healing process. No, I didn't lose anyone cose in the attack, but I have personal hurtles of my own to face everyday and for the rest of my life. For those that think my statement is a little harsh, I just want you to think about it for a while. We as humans are taught to face our fears and grow. Trust me, if I had the chance, on September 11, 2001, I would have given my life for the people that die in those buildings. angry.gif

Another thing is that I was starting to get use to the idea of having a building that is the tallest in the world despite its upper structure being nothing more than a lattice structure. Is that still considered a building? - Hummmm!!!. Not in my book it aint. I am old school, and topping a building off with added material to acheive hollow credit isn't the American way. I, as a New Yorker, feel cheated. I mean give me a break and I understand the "Green Building" jargon, but please; we're talking about a building that is suppose to replace an icon. And nothing will replace the old towers but something that ozzes defiance to the terrorist. The Freedom Tower makes us look like *&)@#$.... Don't get me wrong as I said before, out of all the entry, it was the only thing that got my attention.

I would also like to add that Mr. Trump only stated what a lot of New Yorker have been dieing to say for a while now, but thought the subject was to sensitive. I all aspects for the propose, from making it the legitimate tallest building in the world, to rebuilding them in the same manner and design as the old Twin Towers, they got it right. Just the proposal alone is enough to fill my heart with joy. smile.gif
