I heard on the news last night that the explosion of the Challenger shuttle was caused by foam and that NASA knew? there were some issues and did not reinforce safety. They think that a neutral team should be brought in to make sure that the safety is checked and they would control whether liftoff occurs or not.

Any thoughts on this? My guess why they went ahead with it anyway was due to perhaps getting continued funding for projects and to just get the "science" of the mission going....I think science makes that mistake quite a bit...my sister and I were talking and she brought up this one good phrase and it's from Jurassic Park...about the fact that so many people are doing this type of stuff and not asking the question should they be doing it in the first place. I think it applies to cloning, stem cell research, and abortion..besides other endeavers..I think science has use but needs to be used with a regard for lives and respect for them.

To tell you the truth, I doubt NASA really did care. I believe that NASA are competing with other space developments organisations and that they want to be the best... go to where non have gobe before.

My other theory, is that the knew it was a high chance the foam leaked out but decided to go along with it anyway. I'll edit this later when I have more thoughts....too busy cleaning(Pruning) out SWC

I heard that they at least did not follow the safety inspection through..I thought they knew there was a chance that something could go wrong but did it anyway. I think it's ridiculous that one would be willing to take such a risk especially as I mentioned the mission is not life and death..and if it is the people still have a right to know that hey here is what needs to be done and what could happen to you, do you still want to go through with this?..no these people think hey I'm going to be doing this and be a part of this great thing and bam it's over like that. I can't believe where the world is going in terms of caring about others and respecting the dignity and blessing of life. It's disgraceful. People need to get in gear.
