I am definately a Harry Potter fan. (ahem see under my username wub.gif ) Anyway i used to think the books would be geared to little kids and that it would be a waste of time to deal with it all. I have since enjoyed both movies and have read all the books so far. I enjoyed everything about the movies and the books!! I think the Harry Potter world is extremely cool and carries some good morals, characters, and events. The books I don't see geared for kids really..as sometimes the humor carries an adult tone and since the storyline can be somewhat complex..not to mention the darker turn the books take later on. The movies are excellent carrying the same morals, awesome characters, and some of the greatest special effects I have seen. What do you all think of them?

At first I never really paid any attenttion to the Harry Potter's book but then People kept on sugguesting that I should read it and so I did and I liked it. I have read the first 4 books and want to read the 5th. The movie and the book is great but the movie would of been alittle better if I had alittle more detials that the books included that teh movie did not. But overall I like the story about Harry Potter.

I agree with you.The movies could have added a few more things like the book had..though I like the characters a bit better in the films. Severus Snape doesn't seem like a cruel man and Hermione doesn't seem so arrogant...and some of the lines Ron had in the books do fit better in the films coming from Hermione or someone else. I think that some of the scenes they could have put in the films from the books would not only have been useful to clarify things but to also add some more humor. Like the Valentine's party..it may sound girly but I thought it'd be so funny since Lockhart is such a dork and it could have been perfect to have more scenes with him as a dork and the interactions with the teacher's and students. I heard the next film may be next year on June 4th. I can't wait!! Like you Somekid I never really payed attention to the books until after watching the second movie and hearing about them. It's well worth the read. tongue.gif

You'll have to let me know when you read the fifth. biggrin.gif

I hope this time the third movie would be better. Becuase I think s far the third book is probably the best. I don't want the third movie to be that bad.

I thought the book was really great too! You got more of a background on some of the people and some twists in the plot. I wonder if they'll have boogarts in the film? I admit i laughed out loud at that part in the book but uh..well my avatar is giving me a look so i better not say anymore. cool.gif I heard Gary Oldman will play Sirus Black and some Thewis guy is Prof. Lupin. I didn't expect the whole time traveling thing..one would think you could use it for other things..like why not go back in time and stop Voldemort from gaining power period? Though I guess that would change the world too much now and may have severe consequences..though you'd think stopping an evil madman would be of more good than ill. huh.gif

I also am interested in seeing how they make the hippogriff look...and this will be the one where my hatred for Malfoy becomes fullblown.

I think i might read the book again.

I'm guesing most of the movie will be computer generated so I hope the characters look cool this time. But also even if they go bac in time I doubt they will be strong enough to defeat him and also I think they will probably break a rule or something. Also then it would probably end the series to early.

I am curious as to how the Dementors will look..right now I imagine something along the lines of the ghost of Christmas future from a Christmas Carol. And the hippogriffs should look pretty cool.

I figure that they can't go back because it would break some code like you say...afterall whatever would happen in the past would directly influence the future and change everything.

I just heard something on tv about them having a new director for the fourth movie..but didn't hear who or why. I can't wait for the third one. tongue.gif The only thing I don't totally care for in the books is the later the book the longer it takes to get to the school and everything that is happening there. I know some of the events prior to the school year she needs to put in and use but I enjoy the school year itself more.

I'm guessin the demenators will be grey cloaked ghosts floating. I hope they will make the time travel look cooler in the movie. Also I would want to see how Sirus Black would look like. I hope this movie would be as great as teh book was.

I don't think they can screw up a Harry Potter film. smile.gif I am curious to see also Lupin's transformation. I wonder what they'll make a werewolf look like.

Down Below I shall post some POSSIBLE SPOILERS..mostly theories I, people online, or I read about in a book : Unofficial Guide to the Mysteries of Harry Potter (I'll have to check the name to make sure I got it right).

1) Neville Longbottom is part merperson..owing to his having a toad given to him by an uncle..and uncle named Algie..he aslo shows an affinity for palnts and the water plant book Moody gives him. He also may be forgetful due to a memory charm used on him as a child.

2) Lupin may not be Lupin..what if he is someone else..who is in Lupin's body due to a switching spell?

3) Severus Snape is a vampire:-lives in dungeons - many comments on him describe him as a big fluttering or overgrown bat -he went to Filch to help him with Fluffy's wound not Pomfrey (thought hat could be his not wanting to explain to her why he was on the third floor) - senses harry in the library..or hears/smells his breath -look at his clothes in the movie and how he uses that cape..it shouts vampire Some people have mentioned online that it is unlikely as in the film he is caught eating and also he does go out during the day. I answer back..that some of the light in the castle may be magic light..like at the MOM..so perhaps it does not act like real sunlight..also maybe he is never in direct sunlight and that he is the Potions Master so if he can handle the difficult werewolf potion he can certainly handle one he needs himself. Perhaps it allows access to daylight..direct or indirect and maybe even lets him eat. I forgot anothe rpoint for him being one..I've heard it online and in the book..(I apologize o sources I don't name fully..I don't intend rudeness I just happen to have been to many sites and cannot remember where all my info came from.) Anyway when he teaches for Lupin he has them study werewolves..to expose Lupin..they obviously are not ready for them otherwise..and when Lupin comes back..he teaches them vampires.

The only thing I don't like in the later books is how long it takes him to get to school where the fun really is and all the characters are. I also don't like how apparently since everyone is a teenager or older they seem to have to like someone..some of it I could see..but ..I don't know..I guess I worry about what's going to happen in the next ones.

I do like that all the books are a mystery and yet JK leaves clues along the way for you to figure things out with. I heard the next book won't come out until sometime (summer?) of 2005.;don't know how accurate that is though.

Anyone read her other books: Quidditch thru the ages and Fantastic Beasts and where to find them?
