Pathetic, utterly pathetic, one thing before I start the disccusion, whose stupid idea is this to start a "Chinese History Forum" if this website is intended for younger people(mostly video gamers) than how many of them actually knew the history of China? well I am an exception.
People say Ying Zheng is cruel, a tyrant, which is partly correct, and mostly wrong. Before the Chin(Qin) Dynasty, there were 7 Kingdoms, Chin was one of them, so we call it B. Chin (Before chin) period. The way I see the seven kingdoms is that it's very similar to Europe, there was a king, and kingdoms survive because of each other; each kingdom has its own language, measurement, currency, even culture. If Ying Zheng had not conquered China, let's say got killed by Jing Ke or somebody, China now will be exactly like europe, there will not be a China, but several countries, different languages, customs, etc. of course Ying Zheng did unspeakable things, like burining all the books beside Chin's, but if he doesn't how can he unite the Chinese language? He killed scholars, to get rid of the old ideas, much like Mao Zedong did in the cultural revolution, except Mao failed. It is Ying Zheng First Emperor of China who created China, yes indeed the word "Chin-a" was named after the Chin dynasty. In my personal opinion Shihuangdi Ying Zheng is equivalent to 20 Napoleons, 30 Octavians, 3 Alexander the Greats, 15 Julius Caesars, and 50 Solons. |
