I’m Janlene. My real name is Janet Arlene hence Janlene. I’ve been married for 29 yrs. Have 2 great kids, a boy and a girl, I guess you would say they are not kids anymore but to me they will always be. LOL
I started dolling with my daughter Amberrose. She has the site called The Yellow Rose. We started about 11 years ago with Drag and Drop and have worked ourselves to the way we make dolls today. It was in 1998 with my daughter Girl Scout troop, I was the leader of the troop and I wanted the girls {12} to work on a badge together so, they pick to work on their computer badge. They each had to make a page on out GS web site. So I went surfing the web to think something 12 little 9-year-old girls can do and I found dolling. They all worked on it and got the badge but out of 12 girls in the troop, my daughter is the only one who has stay with dolling. She was 9 when we started and is now 19 and said she has no plans of quitting. We will see when she finds a man. LOL

I live in California near the Happiest Place on Earth where my family goes a lot through the year.

My Interests and hobbies are doing many thing kinds if crafts. Painting, Crocheting, I use to designing costumes and making them for people and dolls. Shirley Temple doll dresses for a store. Making porcelain dolls. I collect real dolls.
I have collected real dolls ever since I was a little girl. That is were the Shirley Temple clothes come in. My mom bought me my first antique Shirley Temple in the late 60’s, but she didn’t have her original dress on so, I made a new one to look like what she wore in the 1930 movies. I’ve been sewing since I was 7 yrs. taught by an old fashion grandmother, who taught me to also crochet. I made porcelain dolls but haven’t made one in 10 years so I have a bone yard in the garage [that is what my hubby calls it].
I collect all kinds of Disney memorabilia, Disney Plate, Disney Figurines, Hallmark Christmas things, Santa Claus and Snowmen. Oh I’m also doing our family genealogy, been working on since High school so that make it over 35 years and it still not done. Found out so far that lots of my greats grandparents were Kings and Queens.

My favorite Color is the Rainbow but if I had to pick just one it would be teal I guess.

If you would like to know anything more just ask.

Hi, Janlene! Welcome to MEDA. :D I'm Tari, the flash-obsessing anglophile. I think I've been to The Yellow Rose! How awesome! Tell your daughter good job for me. :)

I'm into way too many things to count, really. Star Trek, David Bowie, X-Men, V (you know, those two mini-series in the '80s, if you remember it), and Musical Theatre to name a few.

I love Disney. Particularly the soundtracks. What's your favorite Disney movie?

Hey Janlene! Welcome to MEDA! Hope you like it here!
What's your avatar say? "Escaped mom, don't tell you [what?]"

OH!! You're Amberrose's mom!! I know y'all's site!! Gosh, good to see you guys are still around the dolling community! I remember you have that huge dolling links page, and either you or your daughter (or both?) have a bunch of really cool bases. I may have even entered a contest there at one point; can't remember for sure.

I'm B. Age 28. Started dolling in 2002. Also draw/paint. Into fantasy and sci-fi, vampires, anime/manga, and soccer.

Hi! It's lovely to have you. I like sewing too, though I'm pretty much self-taught...

Oooh, genealogy! My mom has been working on ours as well, though she's only gotten as far back as our ancestor's immigration to America from Ireland in the 1700s. Where are your people from?

Hi Janlene, welcome to MEDA. =D

I'm 20, been dolling... erm... since about 2002/2003 perhaps? I forget! I've got a bit out of the loop lately, I get distracted by my 3D stuff. =) But I have definitely been on your daughter's site in the past! I think I even have a few bases saved somewhere on my hard drive!

I like horses, my dogs, my Asian ball-jointed dolls, music (particularly into j-rock and Finnish glam rock, hehe) and film/tv (Star Wars, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Supernatural and Heartland for the most part). I also love comedy panel shows - Mock The Week is the main one I watch, and Ed Byrne is my favourite stand-up comedian. Hehe.

My aunt's been researching our family tree too - I have no idea how far she's got, but it seems to be never-ending! Sometimes I'm sure I've found her translating Latin. x__x We definitely seem to be British for the majority (England and Scotland, anyway). Oh, I'm from England, by the way. =)

Anyway I think I'm probably babbling, so I hope you enjoy the forum!

P.S. I'm jealous you can sew, my poor BJD would love some new clothes but my attempts have not been very worthy of his handsome looks! :rollin

Welcome to MEDA! That's a super interesting story about how you and your daughter got into dolling!
