Community Rules
This community is dedicated to creating drabble (short story) challenges for the musical Cats.
This is a community for mature people. You don't necessarily have to be over 18 to participate, but you do have to act like an adult. Being an adult means comprehending that not everyone will like your fic. Similarly, not everyone will agree with your OTP or your opinion on slash/femmeslash. If you can't handle people not sharing your opinion and can't show respect to others, this likely isn't going to be a fun place for you.
THE RULES
- Only fics directly related to this community's challenges (i.e., as a result of an official contest) may be posted here, with the exception of the backstage/general discussion and rehearsal/fic discussion forums.
- Please post your entries only on this forum, on the Opening Night board, until after voting has finished and the winners have been announced. After that, you may post your drabble wherever you like.
- All entries must be spell-checked and have a reasonable attempt at proper grammar and punctuation. Fics that hurt the eyeballs of those attempting to read them because of poor English will be disqualified, after a thorough scolding.
- All ratings, genre, pairings, and characters are welcome.
- Free expression is encouraged. If you post a fic here, expect that you might be receiving constructive criticism (i.e., we don't insist upon only positive reviews). However, flames are not permitted. Flames will be deleted and flamers banned.
- The weekly challenges consist of prompts, for which you will be asked to write a tale of 100-250 words. Prompts will be posted Monday morning, stories will be due the following Thursday (you have 10 days in which to write your drabble), and voting will occur on Friday through Sunday, with winners being announced just prior to the posting of the next challenge prompt.
- Votes should be sent via private message to Cassandra. In weeks with more than five entries, you will list (in order) your choices for First, Second, and Third place. In weeks with four or fewer entries, you will vote for your choice for first place in an anonymous poll posted on the forum.
- You may vote for yourself, because we know you want to. But using multiple accounts and getting your flunkies to pad the vote so you win sucks, and perhaps will be castigated, berated, pointed to and laughed at accordingly.
- All entries should contain the various elements of the header, indicated below.
- Please submit only one entry per theme.
HEADERS
All entries should contain the following, preceding the story:
- Title. Duh.
- Word count. Contest fics should be 250 words or fewer.
- Rating. Believe it or not, some people don't like reading smut.
- Squicks, so the faint of heart are warned before scorching their fragile retinas. The possibly squicksome consists of but is not confined to: slash/yaoi, femmeslash/yuri, character death, necrophilia, R and NC17 ratings, underage nookie, noncon, excessive fluff, etc.
- Pairing and characters are not so important, but you can include this information if you like.
Please read and follow the rules! Failure to do so will result in a gentle reminder and a frown from yours truly.
