Caolia nodded. 'Stupid of me to ask her.' she thought. 'Nellas hasn't been into town in a long time. She porbably doesnt know anything about it.' "You're probably right." she said aloud. "I was just having a temporary memory loss, or something..." It was strange. Caolia normally didnt forget things. What was going on? There had to be something... "Do you want to walk together?" Caolia asked. "I still don't feel comfortable walking around here alone."

Nellas nodded. "Sure," she replied. It's not like I've got anything better to do, she thought to herself. "I guess we should just try to find that fork, then," she said, starting off down the road. In her mind, she was trying to see the path from her tree to the center of Rivendell... yes, the path did fork... yes, that was the way.
"I think I've remembered," she said to Caolia. "We do have to find that fork. Then it'll lead into the city, I'm sure of it." |

Caolia nodded. She was happy to be getting home, and yet was sad to be leaving Nellas. The girls walked for a while, came to the fork, and turned right. They continued for a little while, then came to Caolia's house. "Well, this is home. I guess... I guess I had better go now..." Caolia turned to enter her house, but an idea came to her. "Would you like to come in? You can meet the three Elves I live with, and there is some excellent food." she said

Nellas hesitated for a moment. Then she said, "Well, I'm still a bit full from lunch, but I'll meet your friends."
She hadn't met any Elves except for the healer for quite a long time. She tended to fend for herself, away from the city. She preferred the quiet. She well knew she might leave with a headache, since many Elves liked things to be cheerful and louder than she normally did. But it would be okay. It would be good for her. |

Caolia nodded, and led Nellas into the front hall. It was a light forest green and tan, with columns and exquisite tapistries. It sort of looked like she was a rich girl, even though she wasn't. She was normal. Sort of. Anyway, she walked through the archway at the end of the hall. This led to a sitting- room, the same colours as the entrance hall, and three doors leading to other rooms. Caolia went over to the left-hand door and opened it.
This was the kitchen. It was white and silver, organized and beautiful. There was a small fire in the middle, and there were other fire-places around it. But it was empty. There was a door leading out of the kitchen. This was the dining-hall. It had several long tables, and they were made of a cherry wood. Caolia then opened the middle door. This led to another hall with four doors. The front left one was a red and white bedroom, with red curtains, a white bed, red pillows, and a cherry wardrobe. The room on the front right was tan and purple. It was identical to the red room, but the wardrobe was a tan wood. It, too, was empty. The back left room was a green and tan, identical to the purple room, and the back right room was teal and white. They were also empty. Caolia went back into the sitting-room and opened the right-hand door. It was an office-type place, with a deep brown desk and comfortable chairs. There were wooden cabinets, stuffed with paper. This room was also empty. "I suppose they are not at home." Caolia said. "They usually are, but now I guess they are out. If you would like, we can wait until they get home." |

"Sure," Nellas replied, shrugging. She had never really liked houses very much, but this one wasn't too small for her. (She would be called claustrophobic in modern times.) It was a nice place, though.
She sat down on the edge of a chair and said, "It's a very pretty house." She was slightly uncomfortable, even though the house was big enough. She had never been good at meeting strangers... reflecting on her cluastrophobia and shyness, she wondered why she was even there at all. Because it was good for her, she decided. But she also vowed that if more than half an hour passed, she would just make up an excuse to leave. She would feel awkward sitting there longer. |

Caolia sat patiently for awhile until she could see that Nellas was feeling uncomfortable. The elf kept squirming and had a slightly pained expression that disturbed Caolia. She stood up, gasping, as if she had forgotten something, then hurried out hoping that Nellas would follow. She thought it was a good plan to get her out of there and to stop being squiemish, though she knew it would somehow end in disaster.
