Well i know a lot of you are getting antsy and are annoyed with the broken board. I've been really busy and that sucks, plus we were waiting for data that will never come due to a screwup by the company that serves IF.. but this week has been slow for me so im getting some stuff done on it... right now im waiting on the mods a little bit. but its definatly coming. We are going to have a homepage with a forum, and we are aiming to be greater than some of the more popular C/c++ sites. It has come to my attention that we be a bit more general... which ive considered, but then i think we lose our awesome C/C++ help that people have come to know and love. Maybe in time as we get bigger and have a large number of users that are using say python or something. but ya just know that the new board will be up soon and that we are in more final preperations due to me having time and the knowledge that waiting for recovered data is hopeless.

For the longest time, I thought parts of the board were broken for some reason concerning my comp. I didn't try to fix it because I don't really stay on the board 24/7.
I'm really glad to hear alot of this is going to be fixed, though. I hope it looks better. I can imagine it's gonna be good, though. As many C++'ers we have, there should be some html'ers and things like that. (S)Aint MEph |

I'll hold my hand up and admit that I'm partly responsible for the delay as well on the new forum/site. Had a major uni project that were due in earlier in the year, and then other things have caught up.
But as ih8 said, things should start moving along now. -------------------- Say NO to software patents !!

Ok, here is where things get messy. About two weeks ago, we decided on IRC to start a similar thing. We held a vote to see if we thought it was time to start fresh with a new programming community (not only dedicated to C++, as CPPLC is, but to several topics of programming and computer science). After a day, we unanimously decided that we should go for it. Around 10 votes were cast. We have been working on a new site since. We don't have much so far, besides boards, but have big plans for the services the site will provide. The site will provide a modified version of media-wiki which uses the same session and login as the forums do (the whole site will require only one registration).
We plan to fill the site with content over time about a broad range of CS and development articles along with a series teaching programming "from the ground up." Ravotus and I have mainly been working on the site so far, with some help from Yankees26 (who was originally against this, if you remember). Most of the IRC channel members are on board and waiting eagerly for the site to become usable. The boards can be found at: http://cpplc.sinthos-soft.com/forum/ We have not yet come up with a name, but do not plan to use CPPLC (one: because it's taken I apologize if this split hurts anyone's feelings, and offer you all (Kenny, KTC, Myork, Voodoo) moderator/staff positions in the new community. - Zorro -------------------- the fail is strong with this one

I really hope nobody will take this the wrong way, but I have a feeling they will anyway.
As for the forum, we wanted to get everything set up before notifying the majority of the members, but with the announcement of a new forum being set up by ih8 and co, we decided that the time is now. We want to prevent a split in the community. We havn't yet had time to completely think of a new name, purchase a domain, or get a layout completed. We weren't planning on having to release it just yet. If you have any suggestions/comments/complaints, feel free to contact either Zorro or myself. -------------------- |

well we allready have cpplc.net, a forum thats ready to go as far as i know- http://www.cpplc.net/forum (may as well start migrating, go register) and other stuff... anyway i think our dreams are compatible.. thats what ktc and i were talking about as well about making the community much more than it is, and much more than say cprogramming.com. right now we have paid hosting... you dont want that to go to waste now do you? its a lot better than being on someones clans server or whatever. Anyway we should just all stick together and do whats best for all of us

It's actually "hear hear", but yeah.
Like ih8 said, that could work together. What you're planning on is completely different to what I and ih8 have in mind for CPPLC anyway. Good luck to you all.

I can't beleve your getting rid of old CPPLC. What will come of all the devote members who have built up their posting?! Like C-man. And you'd rather have a gigantic community where noone knows each other, rather than have one where we all know eachother, but there isn't very many memebers? Well, we'll see what happens. I have no say in this, so I'll just go along with everyone.

as for the c++ learning community were not really getting rid of anything... just moving to a different location. the data that remains here will be read only because there is still a lot of good data here... its just a lot less work and less risky to move, and be in control of our own backups and server, than to fix this one and have many things be out of our hands still.

I fail to see the reason for the split. It looks like nothing more than a selfish power struggle. I wouldn't mind splitting off if there were no plans to move and the boards remained in this broken condition, but this is not the case. Don't take this as me being rude, I'm just calling it how I see it. -------------------- "Object-oriented programming is an exceptionally bad idea which could only have originated in California."

Well it was sort of an accident that it happened this way. The forum that myself, Zorro, etc. are working on has been in progress (and functional) for two or three weeks now. We had no idea until a few days ago that ih8censorship and KTC were setting one up.
