well some of you might remember an obscure little topic some time ago titled"Project:Destiny, the great undertaking" in which i asked you to post any scheme you had yourself, or which you could come by and up with, saying that i would reveal fully what was going on, when the soc was over. well, it is over and the time has come to shed a little light on things:

Most of you will know that to a starting player, the lizardmen army seem very limited on variability, concerning conversion possibilities, and themes, however we are also many whom know that it is not necesarily so, and as we have seen several of us have adopted our own scemes and conversions. the goal of projedct destiny, is to not only broaden our possibilities, as well as those of any newcomers, but also to inspire, and show people that the lizardmen can be as customizable, and varied as any army if not even more so, project:destiny is the codename of a project to create a supplementary army book for the lizardmen, made by lizardmen players for lizardmen players, the book containing, background material, fluff, artwork, alternative army lists, special characters, magic items, and "collecting..." sections for several themes which can be used, and even a number of revision which can be used by lizardmen players in their games.

how do we know which themes will be in, and who will be doing all this? i hear you say. well, there is no preset themes made of yet, and indeed the contents are supposed to be limited only by our very own imagination. if you have a theme you will want to add, then just make it, and it will be added, since this book is supposed to cover as much of extra material for the lizardmen as possible.

the grand plan is also to be able to have themed list made especially for the different army themes, and thus allow players to field a special list hand-made for that exact theme they are using. these will of course require playtesting, as will any new units made for those lists, however we would rather deliver a quality product than rush things, and thus try to with your army list, get as much field testing and balancing as possible.

in some cases, like the inevitable big section concerning lava theme, multiple players might wish to add something, to a single theme, and in this cases it is not only perfectly acceptable, but it is also encouraged that players work together.

so how do you sign up, simple, you can either post a reply, in which you say which theme you would like to do and in what direction you are planning on taking the theme. although you can also just "turn up" when you have something, posting what you are planning to do, beforehand will give other players a chance to join in or add something if they get any ideas which could add to the list in question.

maybe you are more into painting and drawing than writing and playtesting, well then there are something for you to do too, for as i said in my previous thread, this project is meant to draw on every branch of the vault, meaning that each sub-forum will have something to do.

each theme, would ideally of course be followed up with a paint section, which includes guides on suggestion as how to paint, model, and convert models for each team, and the team making a theme, may even manage to be able to aquire some artwork to add to their sections, or write a strategy page on how to get the most out of the current theme, and even stragtegy schemes.

summing it up, you are able to choose a theme you wish to do, and from there on no bonds are laid upon you, no requirements to meet or limitations on how far you can take the theme, and of course noone will forbid you from working on several themes.

when we have the book assembled and edited, the plan is to make a printable version accesible through the site, but also to have a full bound-in book which could be bought through the site, and thus sent to the person in question.

as said, it will become a cooperation between all the sections of the site, and so the moment we get started, a thread will be opened in each section in which all concerning project:destiny, which can be related to the section would be discussed.

destiny is upon us, the hour of immortalisation is at hand and perhaps the greatest undertaking ever concieved by a gaming site begins to speed on its way!

Ever since the i first joined TPV2, I've been waiting for a post like this. The different thing about my army is the fact that they are the remainants of those Lizardman followers that guarded the Great Gate!. Stuck in the frozen north there were blessed so they may stay vigilant on guard. There fore, Chotec allowed them to adapt by allowing the "Heat of the Sun" to burn within each Lizardman. Just some ideas that would mean restrictions as well. Possiblly the loss of some Cold Blooded creatures not spawned by the Old Ones ie. Salamanders, Terradons, Stegadons, Jungle Swarms & Carnosaurs (Must somehow balance this in particular, possibly substitution?). There would also be increased availability of Cold Ones (the name says it all). Increased availability of the Blessed Spawning of Chotec.
One new unit that may substitute Salamanders, but has little fluff backing, would be Hellhounds!... smile.gif
Whatchathink?

--------------------
The prophecy of the Light & the Ice fulfilled, the Guardians of Huaneque return to their icy abode. Their enemies conquered, the Mage-Preist Loqui-Mar rests once more. Once again darkness will loom, and the heros of the Prophecy will be called upon to lead their armies to the Rainland to protect the Item of Power that lies in its grip...

i think, as i said, that if any of you have some ideas you like, then you should get working imiediatly, none needs my consent or anything, since this is to be a united effort of the TPV2, and thus none can have more say than anyone else.

on a more personal note: i love it! would like to join in on that theme, and ill be off trying to think up some things we can do with it k?

I think that it's a good idea... count me in!

Of course, I would like to join the project with my Dragon Isles Southlands Army. As many 'vaulters probably know, the fluff behind it is that a bloody civil war followed the death of the last Slann of the Dragon Isles.

The Skinks and Kroxigors started a riot against the Saurus (which forced the Skinks and Kroxigors to build again and again giant statues of their former leaders, the Slann... quite similar to the movie Rapa Nui), killed them to the very last (only a Scar-Vet survived because of an ancient prophecy, and he's kept chained to a totem-pole when he's not fighting) and destroyed Saurus'spawning caves.

Without the guidance of the Slann, Skinks quickly reverted to barbarism, started to eat the bodies of defeated enemies, wearing their bones as trophies...

Here's the gallery of my army... more pics soon to come (Skink Chief with Steg Helm, Scroll Caddy, Skink Priest with Diadem, another FSoD).

I would like to expand the theme with some Dragon Isles terrain, fluff, and so on... anyone wants to help me?

They look soooooooooooo cool, especially the skinks...i might do that (if you don't mind)....Oh...and i'm definetly in!!! happy.gif

My theme is a poisin theme......there was once a spawning of skinks who were black skinned and yellow scaled, they could produce poisin through there skin and have various over abilities........they started of being rare but then more and more and MORE spawnings of these type of skinks came into existence.......

10 years past and there were thousands of them.....but they were rejected as being "odd ones out", so they set of into the jungle and trained for many years...etc...etc..!!!

It's kinda like a southlands but in this theme there are NO saurus, scar-weterans etc......and the only monsterous beats that come along with them are stegadons and LOTS of terradons.....and a hand fall of salamnders!!!

EDIT: Rite here we go:

LORDS

Skink warlord - 75 points

Skink High priest (there's not many of these, also can choose any law) - 100 points

HEROES

Skink warhero - 45 points

Skink assasin - 55 points (has 2 poisoned handweapons)

Skink blowpipe expert - 60 points (has 2 blowpipes, thus meaning 4 attacks...poisoned of course..the theme)

CORE

Skink warriors - 5 points each......(all attacks poisoned, 10+ per unit)

Skink stalker swarms - 10 points each.....(poisoned attacks.....-1 to hit, 5-15 per unit), skink stalkers have distinctive lines running down their eyes!!!

(0-2 per army) Skink war-brood - 13 points each.....(poisoned attacks, all have great weapons and a 6+ scaly skin save.....5-10 per unit)

SPECIAL

Skink terradon riders - 28 points each.....( poisoned atacks, 3-15 per unit)

Skink long-bowers - 16 points each.....(poisoned attacks, long-bow, 15+ per unit)

RARE

Stegadons....(if all skink crew are slain...then the Stegadon goes wild and charges any ENEMY unit with in 24")

Salamanders...(if all skink handlers are slain then the salamanders attacks become poisoned aswell AND it becomes frenzied!!!

So there it is...what do ya think!!! happy.gif

I was thinking of a theme some people will definetly hate...

The big monster theme!

Anyway, It would be a no-saurus army with plenty of extra options for including more monsters.

Hero: Skink Chief
Skink Priest
Skink Beast Tamer

Lord: Skink Warlord
Skink High Priest
Skink Beastmaster

Core: Skirmishers
Cohorts (3-5 points, maybe less)
Some Kind of Ranged Monster (Following the salamader profile, of course no artillery die)
Jungle Swarms (perhaps different stats/points for each different kind of swarm)
Regimented Monster (Mata-Mata's anyone?)

Special: Jungle Squigs
A smaller dinosaur ridden by skinks(you know the ones you always see in Jurassic Park)
Cham Skinks (10-12 points)
Hounds (these guys accompany skinks a-la kroot hounds or form a seperate controlled-monster unit)
Sotek-Blessed Snake/Skinks (Think 1/2snake 1/2skink)
Kroxigors
Terradons

Rare: Stegadon
(Perhaps 2 rare slots?)Carnosaur ridden by 3 skinks
Salamanders (75-90 pts)
Giant Bow mounted on Ground Monster (Not Stegadon)
Giant Bow mounted on giant pteradactyl (Flying Bolt Thrower)
(2Rare and 1 lord)Beast Avatars (Quetzl=Turtle, sotek=snake, chotec=pheonix...)

Wow!!! All your army lists are pretty darn awesome. I also like Lord Tlaloc's, Palm carrying Kroxigors, but i swear i've already commented about that a few times.

I'm trying to set up my own Quetza army/Chupayotl army/Itza Army lists, where the Quetzans have some kinda of advantage over Skaven and that the Chupayotl have Sea-ish units. Like Shark-men and Diver-whale warriors. While the Itza army would be Complete Melee. Where their would be Chameleon SKink Warriors, Temple Guard Heroes and a Baby Carnosaur Riders(okay, so what if normal Saurus can ride baby carnies, it says that Baby Carnosaurs can eat a skink in half)

Right now, I'm writing my Quetzan Fluff and am preparing to make a list for the temple-city. I would be glad to help anybody with anything, but it would be way better if we were allowed to just automatically post in the revisions forum!!!!!!!!

I would love to help you, Lord T. though be warned my painting skills are not very good.

I also may have my own theme. Has anybody seen an interactive map on GW of the warhammer world? The lizardmen lands in Lustria are far south of the land of Chill.

There is a buch of barren land in between, contaning mountains, and stuff like that. (unless this is part of the Druchii lands, but I dont think so)

Anyways, I was thinking of an army that got stranded in these mountains, in between the land of Druchii and Lustria. It would probably have lots of skinks, as they are agile and can fit in the caves to keep warm. There would be very little kroxigors, as they are big, and, lets face it, a little on the stupid side. There would be some suarus. And I was thinking of something along the lines of "there must be atleast one salamander". The reason is that, without the salamanders to light fires, everyone would die of the cold.

Anyways, does anyone think that this is a good idea? I may try to write up an armylist, and I already have some fluff for it in the "tales of the old ones" section. its called "the frigid north".

How does it sound? laugh.gif

Yay, I would help moose! Maybe your Salamanders become core units instead of rare(maybe drop CoR to rare since wouldn't they die once it's so cold and cold ones are the stupidiest in the lizardmen army), and that you have more Skink Handlers(4 perhaps), since the Salamanders are so special in your army. and Maybe their would be Salamander Riders.

On the other side, since it's so cold, the Lizardmen Could have adapted to ice. So maybe the Skink Priests have a special Ice lore. Or that they're is some animal that can breath ice(opposite of the sallie)

I was thinking of that, but maybey then they would be too powerful. Maybey limiting them to 0-2 hunting packs of three, but still core or something?

Oh well, thats a topic for the revision forum, or PM's

Thanks for the help, philly. To the PM's!

One thing that i've been thinking about is lizardmen that have occupied the ruins of the Dwarf city in the Southlands (can't remember its name). Haven't gone very far with it yet but perhaps use dwarf axes for saurus weapons and make it more of a 'typical' lizardmen army, that is brown skinned cave-dwelling lizards.

I think it's called Karak Zorn, but it also says the it was destroyed from powerful Slann Mage-Priest earthquakes. Good idea though!

Yep, rumour is that it was destroyed. Well its called a rumour in the army book, which pretty much makes it a fact (strange race inhabiting Chupayotl indeed) happy.gif
Still i think that some tunnels must have survived smile.gif

I like what I am hearing so far, and keep it up. tongue.gif I may even contribute a little some thing later, given time.

Just a quick note, isn't getting a hero to ride a terridon for 10 points a little cheap point-wise, I mean it should at least cost more than cloak of feathers right? wink.gif

I like the idea of a lava themed army, lizards breathing steam from thier nostrils, sparks crackling in their eyes, veins visible by a faint glow from the unnatural molten liquid coursing beneath them, shpes rising from the molten pits to strike down those who scak thier home....Cool laugh.gif .

Well it's not exactly a Skink Hero on the terradon, it's a skink brave. And you can only put the Cloak of Feathers, on skink chief or skink priest. And the stats for either the skink chief/priest are way better than the Skink Brave on Terradon. You also can't have a Skink character go solo on terradon. So that's why Cof On Skink Character costs more/is better than the Brave on Terradon

It is surposed to be cheap because it is a poison 'swarm' army!!! And because of the vast amounts of terradons, they can afford to be cheap!!! happy.gif

I surpose it's a little cheap.......but tha's the army for ya....cheap, poisin & 'swarm'!!! happy.gif
