Note: This was originally posted in the TDF HQ, but upon further reflection, it is an issue for all of Texas and not just our military. We need to make you aware that one of our allies, 10000 Islands (10KI), is now at war with one of our long-time invader-group enemies, Lone Wolves United (LWU). On Saturday, LWU, possibly as a way to go out with a bang, declared war on 10KI. We do not know what sparked it, but it escalated quickly. Here is their declaration:
Notice that they did not declare war on just 10KI, they delcared war on 10KI and "its TITO alliance" as well. That includes Texas. Here is the 10KI response:
We bring this up becuase we are now unofficially at war by extension. We need the TDF to keep a an eye on the region of Lone Wolves United. Watch any movement in or out. Follow them until they stop moving. Watch for any nations with a wolf as a National Animal. Watch for any nations with any reference to wolves or LWU in their nation name or motto. Watch for nations sporting the LWU flag: ![]() Remain vigilant Texas! Go Texas Defense Forces !!! ![]() Big Tex Commander in Chief This post has been edited by NewTexas on Dec 6 2010, 05:52 PM |

Additionally, we have been asked to add our name to to the war effort.
So, we need to discuss this. |

What do you suppose the general prosecution of this war will be? A direct assault on home regions? Or more of a race between defenders and invaders for neutral regions?

Ultimately, it will devolve into a direct assault. Hints:

In the meantime, we don't know... LWU |

A declaration of war on LWU by Texas is almost unnecessary. Thye are invaders and Texas is at war with all invaders. We have probably had at least 10 or more missions against then where they were the primary aggressor. They have not been all that actively lately. That is why we suspect this is their way of going out in a blaze of glory.
Just a little back story. |

I can't say I see the point of a direct assault either on TITO or LWU. Both regions have founders, so the most that could occur is a brief delegate swap. But I'd imagine both regions are vigilant enough that it wouldn't even get that far.
I'd say it's important for us to know exactly how this is going to work. The TDF I've known has always acted in real ways against invaders, not just saber-rattling and symbolic gestures. Anything less is a waste of our time and talents. |

We were recently asked:
That is partially what this discussion is about. Being an ally means supporting each other. So, in essences, yes, we are supporting their war. That gets us to the other part of what we are discussing - to what extent are we supporting 10KI's war: Are we supporting it to the point of declaring war on LWU as well? Are we going to send in troops to invade the region of Lone Wolves United? Are we going to put the fact that we are at war with LWU in the Texas WFE? Are we going to send a nation over to LWU to tell them we are at war with them as well? That is what we are discussing - just how far will our support go beyond moral support? |

The #1 thing that holds us up from doing anything impulsively is this:
These peeps are our friends. These are peeps like Texas peeps. These are peeps that did not ask to be drawn into war. These are the peeps that would become the first targets of our enemies. These are the peeps we would feel the worst for if anything happened the them. These peeps are the reason Texas must proceed very carefully. |

Times like this are when alliances get tricky. Simply put, World War One started because 2 countries got mad at each other and declared war on each other which drew their respective allies into a war they did not start.
Would an all out war be fitting a region that prides itself on defending? Rarely do we make the first move due to the fact we run defense missions. A region is invaded, then we move in to kick the invaders out, or we move in before an invasion and help support what is often a local leader. After much debate back and forth, much of which centered on the aforementioned logic, the Federation Council of Trecdom votes against a formal declaration of war on the Wolves. |

After consideration, Ziotica believes that a formal, full-fledged declaration of war is not wise at this time. Unless we missed something, we do not see that LWU has actually done anything beyond make a symbolic declaration of war. If, or when, LWU makes an actual offensive move, then war would be quite appropriate. As it stands now, so far they're just yelling. Until they make an aggressive attack, we don't believe LWU deserves the dignity of a formal response.

I stand by my last statement that if we do involve ourselves, it needs to be in our capacity as defenders -- defending regions that are invaded. Should LWU begin attacking innocent or allied regions, we need to take action against them. Any invasion on our part against a raider region, however, would be gravely contrary to what we stand for. Our stance has always been that invading for any reason is wrong. We don't need to add any remotely plausible reasons for invaders to declare hypocrisy to the charges they invent themselves.

This was part of a post on the LWU RMB.
I wonder why they didn't mention Texas. ![]() |

That is somewhat interesting since most of our skirmishes with them were joint missions with Joshua's old EAA group. In this instance, we do not mind flying under the radar... |

They probably don't think we're big enough to warrant a mention. Which is maybe true.

It looks like more scumbags are piling on the "Let's Get TITO" bandwagon
First there is Equinox, that Trec posted about 3 days ago: ![]() Can you believe those jokers actually thought they could get an alliance with us at one time? Additionally, the New Britannian Empire, jumped on a day later: ![]() They used to keep their little skirmishes to themselves for so many years. We do not know what rabble-rouser joined them to stir this up. |
